Microservice architectures have generated quite a bit of hype in recent months, and practitioners across our industry have vigorously debated the definition, purpose, and effectiveness of these architectures. In this session, Matt Stine will cut through the Microservices hype and examine some very practical considerations: • Not an End in Themselves: Microservices are really all about helping us achieve continuous delivery • Systems over Services: Microservices are less about the services themselves and more about the systems we can assemble using them. Boilerplate patterns for configuration, integration, and fault tolerance are keys. • Operationalized Architecture: Microservices aren’t a free lunch. You have to pay for them with strong DevOps sauce. • It’s About the Data: Bounded contexts with API’s are great until you need to ask really big questions. How do we effectively wrangle all of the data at once? Along the way, we’ll see how open source technology efforts such as Cloud Foundry, Spring Cloud, Netflix OSS, Spring XD, and Hadoop can help us with many of these considerations.

To Microservices and Beyond

Initially built to deploy and manage the Cloud Foundry “Elastic Runtime”, the platform that allows application developers and operators to easily deploy and manage applications and services through the entire app lifecycle (including production!), Cloud Foundry BOSH is a system that manages any virtual machine clusters of arbitrarily complex, distributed systems. You define your release through packages (what gets installed on the VMs), jobs (what is run on the VMs) and a deployment manifest (declaration of the cluster) and BOSH will first deploy and then continue to maintain your cluster to match that desired state. The result is a self-healing, eventually consistent system that markedly reduces the operational burdens and supports a great number of other Devops functions such as canary, zero-downtime upgrades, autoscaling, built in high availability and more. In this session we’ll show you how to create, deploy and manage a BOSH release, and we’ll watch what BOSH does when bad things happen.

Today, applications are developed amongst various vendors for use supporting Naval Forces on shore and at sea, with different requirements all having to be managed by infrastructure. The Collaborative Software Factory (CSF) is a US Navy Research and Development project designed to bring modern application development to the Navy. In this session you will learn how the CSF is designed as an opinionated way to develop software destined for the fleet. It is designed to help application teams leverage DevOps methodologies using a polyglot platform in Red Hat OpenShift, modern application frameworks, and integrating security into software pipelines. Of the hundreds of security controls necessary for an application accreditation, the approach taken aims to provide many of them via inheritance. AWS and the underlying Red Hat OpenShift container platform provide control matrixes and mappings to help assurance teams with automating accreditation of software. This, plus security features such as code scanning and OpenSCAP scans built into the pipeline, help to rapidly deliver software to the fleet while still meeting compliance and security requirements. By leveraging containers and a managed container platform to provide a stable, consistent platform for applications to be developed, the Navy was able to standardize deployments at sea, such as the upcoming Compile to Combat 24 effort. This effort takes advantage of the AWS GovCloud (US) services accredited at DoD SRG Impact Level 5, such as Amazon EC2, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), AWS Key Management Service (KMS) and others to provide elastic scalability to application consumers to leveraging continuous integration and on-demand testing environments.

Помимо модели важно не забывать про весь пайплайн пре-процессинга данных, который должен попасть в продакшн в том виде, в котором его спроектировал и реализовал дата саентист. Такие решения, как PMML/PFA, основанные на экспорте/импорте модели и алгоритма имеют очевидные недостатки и ограничения. В данном докладе мы предложим альтернативное решение, которое упрощает процесс использования моделей и пайплайнов в реальных боевых приложениях. DataScience Lab, 13 мая 2017 Высокопроизводительные вычислительные возможности для систем анализа данных Михаил Федосеев ( Архитектор инфраструктурных решений, LanTec) В докладе мы поговорим о hardware стороне систем анализа данных для случаев построения приватных облаков или локальных высокопроизводительных вычислительных кластеров. Рассмотрим какие технологии и комплексные решения от компании Hewlett Packard Enterprise позволяют ускорить процесс анализа данных. Это не только зарекомендовавшие в своей области лучшие в своем сегменте сервера линейки HPE Apollo, а так же высокоскоростные сетевые коммутаторы HPE, но и дополнительные вспомогательные элементы решения, такие как мощные графические карты NVIDIA и хост-процессоры Xeon Phi. Так же будет рассмотрен стек HPE Core HPC Software Stack, который позволяет администраторам контролировать использование ресурсов системы. DataScience Lab, 13 мая 2017 Мониторинг модных трендов с помощью глубокого обучения и TensorFlow, Ольга Романюк (Data Scientist at Eleks) В течении последних 8 месяцев мы в Eleks работали над системой отслеживания модных трендов, основанной на глубинной остаточной нейронной сети с тождественным отображением. При тренировке сети мы использовали онлайн увеличение объема данных, а также распараллеливание данных по двум картам GPU. Мы создали эту систему с нуля при помощи TensorFlow. Графические вероятностные модели для принятия решений в проектном управлении Ольга Татаринцева (Data Scientist at Eleks) Как часто вам приходится принимать решения, используя знания в определенной предметной области? На сколько хороши такие решения? А теперь представьте, что вы собрали знания лучших экспертов в предметной области. Похоже, что ваши решения, основанные на этих знаниях, будут куда более взвешенными, не так ли? Мы будем говорить о системе ProjectHealth, которая была построена на основе опыта лучших экспертов в проектном управлении в компании Eleks. Для реализации поставленной задачи была использована графовая вероятностная модель, а именно байесовская сеть, имплементированная на Python. За время работы над проектом мы прошли шаги от извлечения требований, поиска данных и построения модели с нуля до реализации BI дашборда с возможностью углубиться в детали, доходя до сырых данных. Сейчас ProjectHealth экономит большое количество времени для топ менеджмента и ресурсов компании, так как мониторит состояние бизнеса в малейших деталях ежедневно и делает это как настоящий эксперт. Часто мы используем Grid Search или Randomized Search или нашу интуицию для подбора гиперпараметров.
