3. Waiting for Godot . Photo Montage This is a photo montage of images I have sourced for the set and costume design for ‘Waiting for Godot’ I would like the set to be based on a warehouse that the tramps are squatting in. It is dark and the walls are made of corregated sheets of metal, with industrial chains and hooks hanging down and rubbish littered everywhere. The materials are all man-made they are hard, uncomfortable and dangerous it shows the characters are desperate to have chosen this place to inhabit This was created in photoshop

4. Waiting for Godot . Storyboard This is a storyboard I created to show the most suitable images for the design of the play. This was created in Photoshop

5. Waiting for Godot . Moodboard This is a second attempt at a storyboard, this time I layered the images of the materials that I would like to use in my set design, I altered the opacity and changed the effects of the layers to try and convey texture and mood. This was created in Photoshop

6. Waiting for Godot . Costume Design This is a costume design for the character of Estragon. Estragon is often referred to as the body and Vladimir as the mind. To show the fragile state of his body (a reflection also of his state of mind) he is hunched over walking with a cane, his hand is bandadged and he has bare feet to show his vulnerability. I wanted Estragon’s clothing to show he is homeless, It is dirty, old and worn with holes, I have wrapped rags around his walking cane and layered his clothing to show his only possessions are what he wears or carries on him. I used the clone stamp to copy textures for his clothing and altered the colours effects and opacity for various layers. This was created in Photoshop

7. Waiting for Godot . Set Design This is the set design for the play, the stage is a circular pit, this allows me to visually communicate the cycle of which the character’s lives follow – nothing ever happens, nothing begins, nothing comes. The play is a loop which takes us between comedy and tragedy. The pit means the audience look down on the tramps as though in a circus ring, we are their critics, we condemn their addictions, we judge their weakness. I hope that by this arrangement for the set design it will influence the audience to ask questions of themselves. The hook and chain hangs over the pit, a metaphorical noose tempting them to suicide. 8. 3D Studio Max This was a design for a set that we created in 3D Studio Max I found the software quite difficult to get the hang of but I think that is partly because I haven’t used it before. I can see how it is a very quick and useful way to design accurate 3D sets

9. 3D Studio Max This is the set design created In 3D Studio Max, here we have used the spotlight option to draw focus to specific parts of the set design

11. AutoCAD This was the AutoCAD exercise I found AutoCAD difficult to use, I think the hardest part is remembering what each option achieves. I think AutoCAD will come in extremely useful in the future for creating accurate technical drawings.
