My favorite place is Preikestolen, Norway, a large flat-topped rock 604 meters above the Lysefjorden. Some key details about the geography include that it is located in an area of fjords carved by glaciers during the ice age. It offers stunning cliff edge views overlooking deep valleys and mountains. Accessing the top requires a moderately difficult hike along trails.

6. A few from your teachers…
Scolt Head Island, Norfolk
On a high tide, the sailing boats set out in their dozens from Brancaster Staithe;
sometimes they land, their passengers spilling out to explore. At low tide, it’s
barely an island at all, separated from the mainland only by Norton Creek, which
you can wade across if you know where. When darkness falls, the island is
deserted and we huddle inside the hut in front of a fire made from driftwood we’ve
collected from the beach, eating samphire cut from the marsh. Later, we step
outside beneath a sky full of piercing stars and scudding clouds, to listen to the cry
of seabirds and the ceaseless gentle thud of the waves breaking on the beach
beyond the dunes.
7. Ucluelet on Vancouver Island,
British Columbia, Canada.
Endless sandy beaches edged
with forests, fabulous hiking
trails, exciting wildlife.

8. Tallberg, on the shores of Lake Siljan in the centre of
Sweden. Siljan was formed 377 million years ago by
a major meteorite impact. Tallberg is sleepy, green
and peaceful, and when I swim in the cold waters of
the lake it makes me feel alive…

9. Baggy Point in North Devon, a rocky peninsula,
looking out towards the Atlantic Ocean. After a
day of surfing at Croyde Beach and on my way to
a wonderful Devon cream tea!

10. Alonissos, Greece
It allows me to escape completely -
with its natural beauty and
unspoiled traditions.

11. Applecross is a peninsula on the west coast of
Scotland with stunning views of Skye and a
superb pub specializing in a pint of…prawns!!

12. A stretch of North Somerset coastline, Porlock
and beyond, sea to the front and Exmoor
behind, night time walks on Dunkerry to watch
the bats circling and to listen to the deer foraging
in the leafy bracken, and hunts in freezing rock
pools for fractured fossils at Kilve.

13. My favourite place is Lake
Tahoe, located on the
border of California and
Nevada, in the Sierra
Nevada Mountains. Great
for skiing in the Winter
and going to the beach in
the summer! The Lake is
clear to the bottom in
most areas.
14. East Coast near Whitby. Runswick Bay. There is
the most beautiful view on the descent to the
bay. It also is part of the Cleveland Walk. Many
happy times had on this stunning coastline.

15. Himalayas in Nepal.
Sitting at the top of a peak in the Himalayas, having climbed for
days. You think you are at the top of world but are surrounded by
even higher mountains. Piercing cold and thin air make it hard to
move too quickly. White blanket of snow, feeling totally humbled
by the sheer grandeur and magnificence. Adding your small stone
to the pile of rocks of the summit to mark the achievement, prayer
flags fluttering in the wind. Total stillness, calm and peace.

17. Durdle Door, Jurassic Coast in Dorset.
Seaside, strange rock formation. What’s through the door?
The second picture shows the other side of the beach from Durdle
Door and you can just see the sunken ‘submarine of rocks’. Swam out
to the rocks through crystal clear water - saw the creatures and
seaweed up close and real. Tea and bacon sandwich afterwards.
And best of all it’s Thomas Hardy country.
