Company : Wipro Technologies
Engagement / Project : JDE OW Maintenance (Project Lead/Business Analyst)
Client : Major European Paper Manufacturer and Distributor
Project Duration : 24 months (Jan 2009 till Dec 2010)
Team Size / Location : 4 members / UK
Project Description  Same client and account description as stated in the previous
section above. The Specific projects during this phase were of a Stock Sharing Project
(Zenon1), a replacement of an existing Warehouse with another warehouse (Zenon2)
and Implementation of New Business onto the JDE instance.
Mini Project 1  Stock Sharing Project across JDE and SAP system – Zenon1
This was a very challenging project from an IT and business perspective. The business
case was to close an existing warehouse and merge it with another warehouse of a
sister concern to have a huge saving in working capital and transportation alignment.
The project mainly involved a close interaction of JDE along with its Bolt-Ons and SAP
along with its Bolt-Ons. The constraints were to see the same Branch/Plant in the 2
mentioned system in Real-Time in terms of stock availability, stock commitments and
transactions. The other biggest constraint was the presence of 2 order promising
systems – OMP (SCM software) and SAP Order Promising module. There were 4
primary systems to be in sync to complete any set of transaction – JDE, OMP, SAP,
WMA (Warehouse Management System). As these are multiple systems, the
transactions are near to real-time (within a few seconds of each other)
Mini Project 2  Replace existing Warehouse with a new one within JDE – Zenon2
This project was an offshoot of the previous one. The previous warehouse was in SAP
while this particular one was in a home grown ERP. Also this warehouse had a few more
complex functionalities of overseas dispatches, which was limited in the previous one.
Hence it was a management decision to execute the entire solution within JDE with
some integration with the new transportation Bolt-On of the home grown ERP.
Mini Project 3  Implementation of New Business onto the JDE instance
The aim of the project was to bring in a different business/Mill under the Paper
manufacturing company onto JDE from an existing legacy system. This was an end-to
end implementation. As the business was different from the other businesses, it was a
major deviation to existing processes and functionality. As the project was based out of

Spain and with Spanish language as the communication, a set of Spanish speaking
consultants were hired for the task.
Roles & Responsibilities 
Mini Project 1  Stock Sharing Project across JDE and SAP system – Zenon1
Girish’s role here was to lead the Solutions team on the JDE side. He was the main
architect for the entire design and project planning from IT perspective. He participated
in the entire project from initiation, business rules definitions/setup, design multiple
solutions along with the SAP team to figure out the feasibility and robustness of the
system, get the customizations developed in time, under budget and of high quality,
entire end-to-end testing with SAP team as well as the business community, Go-Live
planning & implementation and post Go-live support, fixes and improvements. The entire
workforce was distributed across different locations and the co-ordination itself was a
challenge. The project was a great success story at the client-side leading to more
confidence in Wipro Technologies delivery capabilities.
This was the most challenging assignment of Girish so far in his career with the hope of
even more challenging tasks and constraints.
Mini Project 2  Replace existing Warehouse with a new one within JDE – Zenon2
Girish’s role here was to lead the Solutions team on the JDE side. He was the main
architect for the entire design. He participated in the entire project from initiation, design
solution along with the client’s home grown ERP team, help in setting up the new
Warehouse configurations, co-ordinate with business (existing and new teams),
infrastructure team, get the customizations developed in time, under budget and of high
quality, Go-Live planning & implementation and post Go-live support, fixes and
improvements. The entire workforce was distributed across three locations and the co-
ordination itself was a challenge as it was a major business project rather than a purely
IT project. The project was a great success story at the client-side.
Mini Project 3  Implementation of New Business onto the JDE instance
Girish was involved in this project in an advisory role. The role was defined to help out
the consultants where they were not able to design/configure the requirement in the
existing process/system/functionality. Girish’s role was during the design, build and unit
testing phase. He had a few challenging roles to play for in this assignment.

least time and least effort, start day-to-day support, help stabilize the system and build
accountability in terms of SLA’s for user problem issues / tickets. The client had
intentions to phase out existing individual contractors for cost saving. He was an
important element in the D&L part of the assignment and to convince the client on
Wipro’s capability in delivery. The delivery capabilities of the entire team led to a larger
outsourcing contract beyond JDE. Post the initial stint his role was to establish the entire
offshore team primarily w.r.t business knowledge and JDE knowledge right from the JDE
team to non-JDE technical streams to infrastructure teams to helpdesk team. He was
assigned the role of offshore team lead and report/assist to the project manager at
onsite. He was the SPOC or the entire JDE team w.r.t client and JDE practice. His role
was to capture all the knowledge captured in the team and document it on the Sales,
Inventory, Procurement and Transportation streams. During this assignment he was
rotated between onsite and offshore a couple of times, based on the needs of the role.

The Specific projects during this phase were of a Stock Sharing Project (Zenon1), a replacement of an existing Warehouse with another warehouse (Zenon2) and Implementation of New Business onto the JDE instance. Mini Project 1  Stock Sharing Project across JDE and SAP system – Zenon1 This was a very challenging project from an IT and business perspective. The business case was to close an existing warehouse and merge it with another warehouse of a sister concern to have a huge saving in working capital and transportation alignment. The project mainly involved a close interaction of JDE along with its Bolt-Ons and SAP along with its Bolt-Ons. The constraints were to see the same Branch/Plant in the 2 mentioned system in Real-Time in terms of stock availability, stock commitments and transactions. The other biggest constraint was the presence of 2 order promising systems – OMP (SCM software) and SAP Order Promising module. There were 4 primary systems to be in sync to complete any set of transaction – JDE, OMP, SAP, WMA (Warehouse Management System). As these are multiple systems, the transactions are near to real-time (within a few seconds of each other) Mini Project 2  Replace existing Warehouse with a new one within JDE – Zenon2 This project was an offshoot of the previous one. The previous warehouse was in SAP while this particular one was in a home grown ERP. Hence it was a management decision to execute the entire solution within JDE with some integration with the new transportation Bolt-On of the home grown ERP. Mini Project 3  Implementation of New Business onto the JDE instance The aim of the project was to bring in a different business/Mill under the Paper manufacturing company onto JDE from an existing legacy system. This was an end-to end implementation. As the business was different from the other businesses, it was a major deviation to existing processes and functionality.
