2. STAKEHOLDER
• A young engineering graduate, fresh out of college, having got an
offer from a company and about to embark on her first full time
job; and not having much prior corporate exposure in the form of
internships or projects

3. SAY
• I’m not sure whether people will accept me since I’ll be new to their groups
• I don’t know what kind of job profile I’ll be offered
• I’m not sure whether I’ll enjoy the work
• I fear losing the comfort of college
• What will happen if I tell them I don’t know or if I make mistakes in work
• I’m scared I’ll make a fool of myself in front of others because they are all more
experienced people
• I’m not sure whether I chose the right job, the right company/industry
• I sometimes feel my peers have got better job than I did
• Will I have to work more than 8 hours a day or stay up late nights
• I’m not sure of the company’s policies regarding leave, performance etc.
• I’m scared whether it will be a cut-throat competition arena like I have read in
articles and magazines
• I’m not sure whether I’ll like the location where I’ll be posted
• I hope I find other freshers (newbies) like myself joining at the same time
• I wish I live up to the name of my alma mater when I join the company

4. DO
• Talk to seniors from college who have passed out and are working in companies
• Share these concerns with to other friends about to join work
• Talk to relatives and family and learn about their experiences
• Search on the internet for more information on the company and work culture
• Try to brush up topics that might come useful in that industry/job profile
• Learn more about the company
• Connect online with communities and people working in the company
• Keep my resume up-to-date and ready so that in case I don’t like the job, I can
start searching for alternatives

5. THINK
• People in the corporates/companies are experts and know everything
• Bosses are always bad and harsh and will scold you for even small mistakes
• It is difficult to make friends in company since you are a new comer and others
already know each other
• Corporate life means all work and no play
• Job profiles offered by the company often do not match with your area of study
and with what they initially told during recruitments
• Colleagues will not be very helpful as you’ll be competing with them for
promotions etc.

6. FEEL
• She is anxious about the new job
• She is excited about starting a new chapter in her life
• She is a less confident than in her college environment
• She feels uncertain about the future prospects
• She wishes to do well, but is a apprehensive
• She is worried about making friends
• She is worried about gaining acceptance in the new place

7. INSIGHTS
• Students have some fears during transition from school to college
• These fears are generally related to work environment, new people and
assignments
• Students often do not have any prior experience dealing with corporates and this
results in the fear of unknown in their minds as they venture for their first jobs

8. PROBLEM STATEMENT
• A Young engineering graduate needs help in dispelling her worries
regarding joining a new company as a full time employee for the first time
because she think corporate environments are strict and harsh and do not
accept new comers easily
