History of radio
In order for the radio to become
the way it is today, it had to go
 through many developments and
  discoveries by important people
   such as Guglielmo Marconi and
Edwin Howard Armstrong , starting
with the discovery of radio waves.
1866. A successful example of wireless telegraphy was
carried out by an America dentist Mahlon Loomis. He did
this by making a meter connected to a kite cause another
one to move.
1886. Heinrich Rudolph Hertz showed how rapid variations
of electric current could be projected into space in the form
of radio waves.
1902. The first successful transatlantic radiotelegraph
message was made by an Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi
. It was sent from England and arrived in Newfoundland two
years later.

1903. Greetings between President Theodore Roosevelt and
King Edward VII where carried out by a Marconi station in
Wellfleet.

1905. Naval battle of Port Arthur in the Russo-Japanese war
was reported by wireless.
1906. An experiment was carried out by the U.S as an
attempt to speed up notice of weather conditions using
radiotelegraphy.

1910. The first criminal was caught with the use of
radiotelegraphy this was possible because of Marconi
opening a regular American-European radiotelegraph
service.

1900s. Lee deforest created a detector that allowed radio
frequency signals picked up by the antenna to be amplified
before application to the receiver detector this allowed even
the signals that were weaker to be used. He was also the
one who created AM radio which allowed the multitude of
radio stations.

1919. Radio Corporation of America (RCA) was created in
order to allow people other than the army access to radio
rights.
1892 and 1906 are both possible dates of the first time
that a human voice was transmitted in a radio 1820 was
Natan B. Stubblefield saying ¨hello Rainey¨ to a test
partner near Murray, Kentucky. 1906 was an experimental
program of talk and music by Reginald A. Fessenden.

1880s Transmission and reception on the same aerial
without interference was made possible though the
invention of modulation of radio waves ¨heterodyne
principle¨ by Canadian Reginald A. Fessenden.

1915. Speech was first transmitted across the continent of
America (New York to San Francisco and across the
Atlantic Ocean to the Eiffel tower.

1920. The Harding Cox elections were carried out by
Westinghouse's KDKA-Pittsburgh and well as beginning a
daily schedule of radio programmes.
1927. Commercial radiotelephony that linked Europe with
North America was opened.

1929. Telephone contact was possible between the ship
and shore if it was 1,500 miles of shore.

1935. The first telephone call across the globe was made
by using a combination of wire and radio circuits.

1933. FM Radio was created by Edwin Howard
Armstrong. This allowed the noise statics caused by
electrical equipment to be controlled resulting in an
improved radio signal.

1936. Telephone connection by radio and cable became
accessible for 187 foreign points.
1954. Transistor radio was introduced by a Japanese
company named Sony however it was only possible because
of the invention of transistor in 1947 by Bell Lads.

1965. The first Master FM Antenna system in the world was
installed in the empire state building to allow various FM
Stations to broadcast at the same time.
