Now onto how to become a Glendon student
I will be covering all the steps in the application process to Glendon from the moment you apply to the moment you receive a response about your application
This includes:
Admission requirements
How to apply
What happens after you apply
Go over different types of applicants
Ontario High-School Applicant
OUAC Application: 101
You are currently taking courses during the day at an Ontario high school and have not been out of school for more than 7 consecutive months. (this includes students returning for second semester and graduated students returning to upgrade one or more courses).
Transfer Applicant
OUAC application: 105D
You have attended at least one full year of college or university since high school, regardless of how long ago or where you studied.
Mature Applicant
OUAC application: 105D
You will be 20 years old by the end of the calendar year of admission, have been out of full-time high-school studies for at least two years, have attempted less than a full year of academic studies at a college or university, and have the skills and experience to succeed at university.
Are there any people here coming from another province? Outside of Canada?
Out of Province High-School Applicant
OUAC application: 105D
You are currently attending a high school outside of Ontario but within Canada.
CÉGEP Applicant
OUAC application: 105D
You are currently attending or have recently graduated from a Québec CÉGEP.
International Applicant
OUAC application: 105F
You are not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or you will be studying on a student authorization.
High-school students: Guidance office will provide school number, student number, pin in October or November
You will be able to use those to apply to Ontario Universities through the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) website – 3 choices for $150 + $50 per additional choice
3 programs, NOT necessarily 3 schools with unlimited choices per school!
Find Glendon codes under York University, since Glendon is part of York, and not its own university
If there is a Glendon academic program that you are particularly interested, you can apply directly to that program.
If you’re not sure what you want to major in, you can apply to the undecided major, which gives you an extra year to choose your program.
TIP: Glendon doesn’t look at how you’ve rated us as your choice, so you can take advantage of this, if needed, when applying to schools that actually do look at the rating.
TIP: All of our BA/iBA admission requirements are the same, so if you’re interested in more than one program, just apply to one so that you can save your other two choices for other schools, if needed. You can always add/change your program later if you decide to come to Glendon.
Flexibility to change programs during your studies (quite common).
TRAN, trilingual iBA/iBSc, apply to these programs while you’re in your first year of university and start them in your second year (unless you’re a transfer student)
If you are interested in iBA/iBSc trilingual, simply apply to the bilingual option for your first year. You can transfer later (we want to ensure your French is strong enough before you add a third language)
After you have applied:
After you have applied, you will receive an email from York University with your York reference number (different than OUAC number)
Check your application status
To check the status of your application at anytime, visit: www.yorku.ca/myfile.
See if there are any outstanding documents to submit
Find out if you’ve been accepted to your program
Transfer/mature students, keep an eye on your file to see if we are still waiting on documents. Remember, it can take a couple weeks for York to update your file.

Note: This is for Ontario High School Applicants
If questions are asked about early admission:
Round One – Dec. 1 - Jan. 30 Admission Criteria:
Grade 11 year is used to calculate admission (78%) - Grade 11, 3U, 3M, and Grade 12, 4U and 4M courses completed during the applicant’s previous year. The system will first identify and use all Grade 12, 4U and 4M courses available on the student's record (i.e. ENG4U, BIO4U etc). If/when required pre-requisite courses are not available at the Grade 12, 4U level, the system will identify and use equivalent pre-requisite course(s) at the Grade 11, 3U level (i.e. ENG3U). Once all pre-requisite course requirements are fulfilled (at either the Grade 12, 4U or Grade 11, 3U levels), the system will identify the next highest Grade 12, 4U or Grade 11, 3U courses to a total of six courses to create an admission average.
Round Two – Feb. 14 - March 17 Admission Criteria:
First semester Grade 12, final grades (normally three, 4U and 4M course) as well as Grade 11, 3U and 3M courses completed from previous year results in calculating the admission average (78%). The same process as described in “Round One” will occur, where required prerequisite courses and Grade 12, 4U and 4M courses are given first priority in the admission average.
Admission average calculated on the basis of at least three Grade 12, 4U and 4M courses. The average will again be calculated using six courses, and required prerequisite courses (at either the 4U or 3U level) will be used in the calculation of the average.
Round Three - Late April - early May Admission Criteria:
Six Grade 12, 4U and 4M courses in the calculation of the admission average (74%), including final grades from the fall semester and mid-term/interim grades from the winter/spring semester.
Apply/book as early as possible
OSAP: 6 credits if diagnosed with disability
If you receive an offer from Glendon, keep in mind that it’s conditional and not official (i.e., you are admitted on condition that you maintain your grades above the cut-off average)
Your average can drop as long as you remain competitive to our program (mid to high 70s cut-off).
Conditional offers become final in July when all final grades are in and students have graduated. With an 80%, you receive an automatic scholarship from York!
Here is a general idea of how much it costs to go to Glendon, whether you live at home or not. Either way, university can add up, but it’s an investment that pays off in the end (literally).
(if people ask):
Timeline:
Summer 2014: $300 registration fee toward tuition when selecting courses
Summer 2014: $300 residence room deposit when signing residence contract
September 10, 2014: Tuition for fall and year courses; half of residence and meal plan fees; health plan (if not opting out)
January 10, 2013: Tuition for winter classes and remaining balance of residence and meal plan fees.
These scholarships are automatic with an A average or higher – you don’t even need to apply!
Scholarships are calculated based on your final grade 12 average, so work hard right until the end of the year to maximize your scholarship offer.
The Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries Application is used to apply for both merit-based and need-based scholarships, awards and bursaries. Some awards have specific criteria such as community service or extracurricular activities.
Based on your financial situation (parents income, savings, travel costs, etc). Many students can receive between $400 and $1000 by filling it out and demonstrating financial need.
Similar to online dating, where you get matched up with people who are right for you!
This includes looking at parental income level, savings, educational costs,
living costs and any other resources available to you; each student is assessed on an
individual basis.
Make sure to apply early – if you apply before June 30th your loan will be ready for the start of classes, and the University will give you an extension until October 10th to pay your fees with no interest. Otherwise they are due September 10th with an interest of 1% each month on the outstanding balance.
30% off Tuition (~$1830):
you’re a full-time student at a public college or university in Ontario
you’ve been out of high school for less than four years
you’re in a program you can apply to directly from high school (e.g., undergraduate level)
you meet the citizenship and residency requirements
your parents’ gross income (total before taxes) is $160,000 or less.
PER TERM COURSE LOAD - General Rules: 9 credits per term (60%) = full-time for most things! 6 credits per term (40%) = full-time if you have a permanent disability for certain programs (OSAP and other government aid programs, scholarship renewal, eligibility to live in residence)
Other ways to fund your education…
Also encourage them to fill out OSAP (apply for grants and loans at the same time), York SFP (don’t need to be admitted to find out how much money you might be eligible to receive)
Bourse d’entrée pour les finissants des écoles de langue française de l’Ontario = $1250
