PLACE: BIDDULPH AOG. THUR. 12/19TH MAY 2005. TEXT: REV.19:7-9. THEME: THE MARRIAGE. INTRODUCTION: READING: REV. 19:7-9. “ The marriage of the Lamb,” occurs at the Coming of Christ when He is reunited with His Church. The voice of a great multitude announces this event. Jesus used the wedding descriptions to portray His present and future relationship to the Church. 1. He called Himself the Bridegroom, Mark 2:19 “And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast.” 2. And He likened the coming of His kingdom to a wedding feast (Matthew 22:1-14; 25:1-13). 3. Believers are “married” to the Lord, 1 Corinthians 6:17 “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” 2 Corinthians 11:2 “For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”
