Introduction
• " To engage an international audience is a
challenge to the speaker "
• Name the essential elements to engage the
international audience.
• While giving presentations involvement of your
audience is the most important part to get your
presentation successful .
• If you have international audience to engage then
there are certain tips that can help a presenter to
involve his audience.
Tips
• 1) Building rapport
• 2) making things interesting
• 3) How to influence people
• 4) storytelling
• 5) Let's get interactive
Building rapport
• The presenter should learn to develop connection
on personal as well as professional levels. He also
should know different ways to establish trust
among international audience one should always
be attentive in building relationships whenever a
presenter is about to address any audience . He
always should be aware of the behaviour that is
comfortable far the preticular audience . He has to
leorn to bailt sense of "we" among audience.
• Strategies for building rapport quickly with your
audience before you begin.
• Welcome positively :- Remember "It's not only
what you say , it's how you say it." Blend friendly
body language such as a simple, strong eye contact
and committed handshake with a few positive
words.
• Be curious ask questions :- An individual will feel
welcomed if you ask polite questions about travel.
• Show knowledge :- show that you know something
about them and their professional situation.
Sometimes it pays to do a little research before
hand.
• Build a bond by finding common points :- Begin the
process of connecting to people by signalling that
you have points in signalling that you have points in
common people you may both know or something
you have in common in your personal beck ground.
Rapport building style
• 1) The reactive style
• 2) prefer to be themselves
• 3) reserved and serious
• 4) don't like false politeness
• 5) open honest
• 6) naturally over time
The proactive style
• 1) work hard to create an atmosphere
• 2) positive relationships quickly
• 3) happy to hide true feelings
2. Making things interesting
• A presentation job is not only to deliver
information regarding the topic but in some or the
other way he also should entertaining his audience
as if a presentes can entertain his audience then he
surely can engage his audience for a long time.
• Here are some strategies to develop interest and
engagement.
Using "We"
• With the use of "we" a presenter is assuring his
audience that he is relating with that and with this
assurance audience automatically with start
relating themselves with the presenter.
Using strong words and facts
• In the presentation use of strang words and reliable
facts leavel great impact on the mind of audience
and it also make presentation even stronger.
Engaging people with the use of
names
• When a presenter address someone by using his or
her name not only that person but almost all the
audience will show attention and it make them
believe that the presenter is interested in involving
the audience.
Use of personal anecdotes
• Use of interesting amusing anecdotes successfully
can develop interest among audience.
Creating a sense of urgency
• To grap the attention of the audience members the
use of expression such as look , listen can create a
mood of urgency and the people shows interest in
listening something.
Contrasting time frames
• This strategy also can develop interest as the
audience can see the difference between to day's
time and
How to influence people
• Influencing international audience requires few
more qualities and strategies on the past of the
presenter .
• Building trust :- people will only be influenced by
those they trust one essential factor is that
audience.you have the right expertise.
• Employing logic :- At the end of the day people are
often convinced by good argument and solid data.
• Meeting needs :- people are more likely to be
influenced if a presenter is offering something
which meets there goals. In fact this is often seen
as the single biggest influencing factor .
Interestingly we may influence less by telling
people what they need but more by asking people
what they want and then presenting solutions to
satisfy this want.
• Stressing the relationship :- people are more open
to influence from presenters they like someone
they have something in common with someone
they judge to be polite and approach able with a
sense of humour.
• Creating personal impact :- presenter create
impact in a number of ways some for a high.energy
and more passionate approach to
influencing other go for a quieter more reflective
and analytical style.
• Focusing dessertively :- Audience are likely to be
influenced by presenter who communicates their
ideas forcefully , clearly and persistently but
aggression is unlikely to influence this is an
important intercultural issue as a assertiveness and
persistence in some contexts may be interpreted as
aggression in others.
Being explicit
• Presenter who explain their reasoning openly and
clearly will be seen by audience as honest and
committed to win -win outcome presenter who fail
explain fully the thinking behind their ideas may be
viewed as tactical playing power games and
attempting to manipulate their audience it may
take more time to be explicit, but benefits are clear.
Focusing on the future
• Presenter who provide a clear vision of the future
with step by step guidance on how to reach that
vision will be more engaging and influential for
some audience vision is best communication with
inspirational anecdotes or stories rather than facts
and figures.
Demonstrating self- confidenc
• Presenter who come across as supremely self-
confidence can be infuential without sophisticated
argument should data how ever there is a fine line
between appearing self-confident and appearing
arrogant.
Transmission optimism
• Negative presenter who focus on problem seldom
inspire positive thinker with energy and enthusiasm
dedicated to finding creative solutions are more
appearing to audience.
Story telling
• Story telling is an important art which can help
presenter to engage this audience and sustained
their interest . All most all the leaders and
presenter use this art of storytelling to engage to
inform to influence and to inspire the audience
there are certain types of storytelling techniques.
• 1) Personal anecdotes
• 2) Fantasy story
Personal anecdotes
• 1) An insight into personal values
• Telling a short story about yourself for example
how you feel a difficult , choice an e...... Moment or
how you achieved success an expected can be a
perfect way to reveal personal values.and
established a basic for other to know respect and
trust you.
A learning experience
• Telling a story which shows how you sained insight
into a current problem is a common device to
promate acceptanced of a solution which you are
advocating sharing a learning experience
particularly if it is personal and even painful is a
powerful way to back up a solution you are
promoting.
A moment of confusion
• Telling a story about misunderstanding you once
experienced either you misunderstood someone or
they misunderstood you can be an interesting way
to ask an audience not to misunderstood you the
anecdotes should promote an thinking to what
might be rather unpleasant content in your
presentation.
A table of persistence
• Telling a story about peseveland of persistence in
the face of hardship of success against all adds is a
difficult times and motivate people to continue
believing with a " Never say die" attitude These
stories tend to rely on anecdotes from famous
historical or contemporary figure but work better if
they touch on an element of the persentes own life
story.
Fantacy story
• Do it at the right the right time
• Telling a story is a higher risk presentation style it
risk presentation style it requires performance skills
and an audience ready and willing to participate in
the game if the audience is not leave you exposed
and looking rather foolish so by all means plan to
interegate a story into your presentation but judge
the mood of the audience on the day .
• If you don't feel your created the necessary rapport
to tell the story play safe and drap it. If you do go
for itm you may want to introduce an occasional
touch of irony as you go through the story just to
avoid any feeling that you might be taking this story
telling business too seriously.
Creat a scenario
• You need a situation with a hero or heroine facing a
monument change remember it's the eventual
victory against huge odds. Which is the dynamic of
a good story so we need passion and emotion built
into the situation early . However don't waste too
much time in the set up with boring details or you
will lose the audience. More out out an archetypal
framework towards the happy endings.
Narrate with passion
• If the story has drama your going to need dramatic
skills particularly important excitement your
whispered description and dramatic pouses
releasing the the tension with supported by
dramatic it is a hig risk style.
Build to a climax
• Of course , the moral of the story always comes at
the end always , come at the end but don't labour
it or you risk patronising your audience. Aim for a
simple one line statement to finish which allows
the audience to get the point with maximum
impact . Then move swiftly back to the business
content of the presentation.
Let's get interactive
• The presenter always has to think of the ways by
which he can involve his large numbers of audience in
presentation. Getting interactive with your audience
always help a presenter bring out activeness and
maintain positive atmosphere.
• A presenter should not rely simple on telling things
to his audience instead of that he should always find
some points or rather stages when he can in volve his
audience and make them feel important there and
different types of activities a presenter can try in his
presentation.
Who am I ?
• Label each corner of the room as an animal for
example. Tiger, shark, squirrel, Then ask the
audience members to go to the corner which best
describes their personality.
What do you think ?
• While applying such task in the presentation a
presenter can find out opinions of audience
members on a keen topic. It can be done in.
• Presenter can ask the pairs what is the best way to
?
Group Dynamics
• When a presenter is giving presentations on a
particular topic such as effective international team
work. He can devide people into groups and ask
them to come up with rules that international team
should follow over the next twelve months.
And the winner is
• Don't underestimate the energy which a little
competition can create short Quizzes particularly at
the end can produce a strong feel good factor to
finish off with make sure. You have fun prizes. Not
only for winner but for second and third place.
•Thank you.
