practicum

1. Today I started my day in school by singing the national anthem. The
moment I entered the school, I heard the national anthem. Thus, I stood there
until it finished. It gave me a good and positive energy early in the morning. Then, I
continued my day by greeting all the teachers as well as the pupils. The pupils in
the school, has a very good culture and attitude. They stopped a second and then
greeted the teachers. Based on my experiences, I think not many school has this
practice.
After that, I helped the teachers to clean the hall that used in yesterday’s
program ‘Majlis Graduasi Tahun Enam’. My partner and I arranged the tables and
chairs in a corner. We swept the hall. Then, we helped to set the hall for the next
event which is a retirement ceremony for Mrs. Hajah Mashitooh Binti Abdullah.
She has been working around 32 years. She retired due to her health problem. As
an appreciation for her contribution, a small ceremony was organized by the school
management. The event was started with prayers followed by the headmasters’
speech. Then, her bio data were read by the master of ceremony. Then, Puan Hajah
gave her speech. She motivated the pupils to study well and become a whole
rounded person. From her speech, I learned to be a good a teacher; we should
always give priority to the pupils’ welfare. Through that we can be a good teacher.
The event was continued. All the teachers and pupils gave her prizes and
token of appreciation. I believe that was a very emotional moment for her. After
that, we joined to eat. There was a variety of food displayed and I enjoyed it.
Then, the headmaster had a small meeting with all the teachers. My partner and I
were excluded since we are only going to stay in this school for one week. At
2.00pm we moved from the school.
