IMS’ turnkey solutions include experienced shore
side departments for client companies. With a
mature network and infrastructure that currently
provide operational capabilities to several large
transportation firms, the IMS team is eminently
qualified to supply intellectual capital to any com-
pany with dealings in the marine environment.
We handle the Human Resource functions of
recruitment and staffing, employee and labor rela-
tions, compensation and benefits, and employee
development. Known in the industry for our
personalized and empathetic mariner support, crew
member services like wellness programs, 401(k),
health benefits and personal development plans as
well as professional certifications may be managed
professionally in-house by IMS in accordance to the
client’s preferences.
We believe strongly that excellent mariner sup-
port greatly reduces human error on the boat
and is a factor in attracting seasoned and tal-
ented crew members. “Shore side operations
exist to support our mariners,” says CEO Cathy
Hammond. “At Inland, we see a lot of value in be-
having as a community.”
Finance & Accounting department functions
of payroll and budget are managed under the
direction of IMS Executive VP David Shantz. David
is a professional CPA who has acted as an advi-
sor to IMS for over 30 years, joining IMS full time
in 2011. Prior to his move to the Hebron corporate
office, he was a partner in two top ten CPA firms in
leadership positions. David and his team develop
business plans, capital strategy, financial compliance
and bond ability for clients. Additionally, IMS’ experi-
enced professionals can handle collection of financial
data and documentation of costs and expenditures,
and prepare detailed electronic or paper-based fi-
nancial reports. IMS can also develop long-term
strategy for capital improvements and depreciation
for vessels in co-ordination with clients.
“We are vested partners with all of our clients and we
work with a lot of the top players in the industry,” says
David. “We are doing what we do best which allows
our customers to focus on their core competen-
cies.” IMS is committed to providing flexible services
and crew that fit seamlessly with the client’s culture
and needs.

3. Safety
WA LKING TH E WALK
A commitment to safety is the cornerstone of IMS
culture, driving behavior both at the executive level
and as a grassroots movement on the boats and in
the harbor.
Currently completing a two-year appointment as
Vice Chair, IMS CEO Cathy Hammond has served
federal appointments to The Towing Safety Adviso-
ry Committee for 16 years under three presidents.
She was one of the American Waterways Opera-
tors (AWO) pioneers championing the move from
unregulated to regulated industry standards in the
90s as a member of the Audit Task Force of the
Responsible Carrier Program (RCP) Technical Sub-
committee. Those efforts have culminated today in
an AWO partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard for
Sub-Chapter M compliance.
Widely recognized in the industry as a thought-lead-
er in safety, IMS Vice President of Safety, Health,
Environment & Quality Jason Adams possess-
es more than 20 years experience in the field.
“Development and implementation of IMS’ Towing
Safety Management System, the result of President
Dave Hammond Jr.’s foresight, ensures risk reduc-
tion with our crews which in turn allows us to take
better care of our coworkers and our customers,”
says Jason.
In addition to leadership’s active participation in
regulations and compliance at the highest level,
comprehensive knowledge and ownership of
standard safety processes and practices thrives
among our mariners. IMS’ robust and often imi-
tated calendar of scheduled safety trainings and
drills on the boat and harbor is followed as close-
ly as a college curriculum. Boat captains and
other trainers are encouraged to personalize the
lesson plans with participation and case study ex-
amples. Simulated instruction at Seaman’s Church
Institute Center for Maritime Education and bi-an-
nual seminars at the IMS Corporate office training
facility along with a vigorous traditional apprentice-
ship program are integral components of continual
safety education for IMS mariners.
All of those efforts ensure that IMS vessels are
Subchapter M compliant-ready and our har-
bors meet MTSA security requirements. IMS has
in-house certified auditors in ISM, AWO RCP,
TMSA, USCG-approved programs and ISO
9001. Our regulatory and compliance team can
develop a suite of required procedures, manuals and
training modules to meet any criteria.

Guided by co-founder Cathy Hammond or more
than a quarter of a century, IMS senior lead-
ership includes experienced professionals in
finance, logistics, operations, accounting, safe-
ty and insurance who represent the best in
the industry.
IMS COO of Liquids Greg Brown is a Merchant
Marine Officer and a project management profes-
sional with 20-plus years spearheading multi-million
dollar marine projects. “Here at IMS, clients have
the opportunity to access our collective wealth of
knowledge in a full range of areas of expertise from
managing the regulatory path and design features
to crewing opportunities, engineering operating
parameters and many more. In addition to our ex-
pertise borne of years of experience, a partnership
with IMS provides our clients with unique advantag-
es in savings and efficiencies that are just not avail-
able from the competition.”
“For our partner companies who require quality ma-
rine transportation to support their core businesses,”
says IMS Executive Vice President David Shantz,
“utilizing IMS is a cost-effective means to possess
that capability at a very high level.”
MARINERS
Having long enjoyed a sterling reputation in the
industry for the quality of our crews, IMS currently
employs over 700 mariners in multiple locations. We
take pride in our ability to discover, attract, prepare
and nurture top talent who are not afraid of hard work.
We are devoted to our employees’ professional suc-
cess and development.
“People come first at Inland,” says 15-year IMS vet-
eran and Vice President of Operations Harbor Mark
Roach. “The original Hammond family of four now
extends to 700+ employees. We know each other
by name, not a number. And the owners are aware
of what is going on at all times.”
IMS keeps accurate and disciplined records that are
vital to any successful operation. All documentation
and applicable MMC requirements for crew mem-
bers such as U.S. Merchant Marine Credentials,
TWIC, physicals, drug tests and medical certificates
are managed and filed with care, in-house by IMS
teams of specialists.

5. Logistics
Management
C ONS TANTLY ON THE MOVE
Our ability to gather resources and deploy them
quickly has been paramount to our success in pro-
viding critical services for our present customers.
Drawing from a large resource pool, IMS can expe-
dite crews of any size at a client request. The IMS
Crew Dispatch Department is in constant communi-
cation with our mariners who in turn, are committed
to IMS and its clients. When a customer need is re-
ceived, everyone is ready to spring into action.
We are also often engaged for a particularly chal-
lenging or isolated segment of the waterways.
Because so many of our managers are experienced
mariners, they have firsthand knowledge of the river
and it’s vocabulary, and are fully aware of the trials
that IMS captains face every day.
Vice President Craig Burrus began his career
almost 50 years ago as a deckhand and in sub-
sequent years has served as Boat Captain,
System Planner and VP of Operations. “On
the river, you have a guy at 2:00 in the morn-
ing making a decision worth millions of dollars,”
says Craig. “It is very important that the person
making that decision is a quality individual.” We of-
fer enormous talent on the waterways and in the
office with the intelligence, training and experience
to make the right decisions in critical situations.
Crew transportation, vessel provisioning and sup-
plies are all handled in-house under the direction
of professionals like Craig utilizing a network along
the water. We can arrange technical consultations
with IMS experts in a variety of areas and offer
extensive logistical expertise in supporting the
vessels and crew constantly on the move on the
nation’s waterways.

6. Risk
Transference
SA F ETY PION EERS
IMS has held a primary relationship with retained Ad-
miralty Counsel since the inception of the company.
For over 25 years, our legal team has counseled IMS
and its customers through a myriad of legal matters
including Jones Act and other maritime claims, colli-
sions, and contracts.
What may be of even greater interest to our clients
are the number of instances when those measures
have been averted. A well-timed, empathetic phone
call with a mariner, appropriate crew rehabilitation
programs or accurate, diligent record-keeping can
generate alternative solutions that save our cus-
tomers thousands of dollars. Our dedicated Mariner
Services department offers extensive expertise built
upon years of experience in diffusing challenging sit-
uations. In addition, IMS adopts a pro-active stance
conducting best practice seminars for our vessel
officers on proper accident reporting, risk man-
agement, vessel management, and environmental
protection as well as cultural and social awareness.
IMS pays first dollar on vessel and crew assuming all
liability associated with our service. We manage
proprietary insurance programs and carry $200 mil-
lion in liability coverage.
Also, as pioneers whose founders helped usher the
marine industry into the modern era of regulated
operations, IMS offers clients unparalleled un-
derstanding of complex compliance issues. We
navigate the regulations with ease because we
assisted in their composition.
“It is not unusual for us to have a client whose main
motivation is compliance. We know the current and
upcoming industry regulations inside and out,” says
Dave Hammond. “Those clients know that if we are
managing their vessels they will be in compliance
not just for today, but for the impending Subchapter
M governance as well.”

7. Stewards
ST EWAR DS OF PEOPLE,

TH E ENVIR ON MENT
We take responsibility for your assets on the water.
We supervise and/or make all repairs on the boats
we manage. “We treat client equipment as if it is our
own,” says VP Eng & Maintenance DeWayne Giltner.
“Personally, I feel a lot of pride when a company like
Ingram uses one of my boats as their showpiece.”
A core value, stewardship is a major factor in IMS’
ability to attract top marine talent and to stay com-
pliant. “Career professional mariners are in high
demand everywhere. Why do they want to work
for us? One reason is that mariners know with cer-
tainty that they will be placed on well-maintained
and safe equipment at Inland,” says IMS President
Dave Hammond Jr. IMS currently partners with
Sinex Solutions Planned Maintenance Systems,
who are accepted by Flag and Class, as well as
TMSA to perform planned maintenance. And with
our in-house professional project management
services, we are able to prepare a personalized
program for vessel owners which permits planning
and accruing for future expenses.
Dry Dock specifications, shipyard planning, and
logistics may be developed out of the IMS proj-
ect office. IMS can also offer vetting services for
potential yards. Our experience with a number of
shipyards that have the capabilities required for
vessels of this class is extensive in both service pro-
viders and competent personnel.
IMS’ approach to responsibility and steward-
ship is extended to our waterways as well.
Senior leadership’s contributions in industry
regulation are well-documented. Exhibiting a nat-
ural proclivity for environmental protection, IMS
career mariners are armed with well-defined prac-
tices and procedures from the corporate office
that address green issues.
