Photography Shoot
I am taking photos for a photography magazine, but the photos I will mainly be focusing on are
nature. What this will entail is that I will go out and get photos of unique bits of nature, possible
of some trees, which stand out with the landscape. I want to bring out nature in the best way I
can within the magazine, getting a range of photos to choose from a big area of nature, possibly
getting photos of wild life if I can find any.
Equipment I will need:
 Camera
 Tripod
 Lenses 15-50mm and 50-300mm
 Camera Bag
 A Second Battery Pack
 Spare Memory Card
For this shoot I would need a camera and a tripod only, so that if the lighting is dark within the
forests I can set it up and give the camera more time to take a photo and also that is there’s a
moment where I need a steady shot I can use the tripod. I could also use different lenses to get a
closer image from a greater distance, this would help for the areas I wouldn’t be able to get into
but are still visibleand also look good enough to use as a photo, however with the larger
landscapes I can use the basic lens which comes with every DSLR camera to get a very wide shot
of larger landscapes. I’ll need a case to keep the camera safe when not in use or when I’m finished
and a spare battery so that if one runs out I won’t have any problems with taking any more
photos. Finally I’ll need a spare memory card so that I have no trouble with going over the limit
when I take my photos, if I take two 12GB memory cards then I’ll have plenty of space to get
more than enough photos I’ll need, this also means I can have more experiments when taking the
photos.
Plan:
I will go and take the photos I need during the days I’m not at school, arranging time so that I can
get some photos while the sun is up, then if I plan my time right, I can also get some good photos
of a landscape with the sun setting in the distance, letting a nice orange glow go across the whole
photo. The best time to go out would be between 5pm and 9pm, those seem like the best times
for me to get photos, and gives me the morning to get all my equipment together and make sure
I’m ready for the photo shoot.
Contingency plan:
The biggest worry I have with taking these photos is if it starts to rain, as it could take a lot of
potential out of a photo, if it did start to rain and I was already out taking photos, I’d probably
have to get under cover and wait to see how long it lasts, if it keeps going I’d have to come back
on a different date during the same week, to make sure I can get the photos before anything
happens to any part of the landscape which could loseme a photo. If I was traveling to my shoot
location and it started to rain, I’d have to do the same and wait to see how long it would be
lasting, however it could rain in the areas traveling to the location but not on the location, so I’d
have to check then decide if it’d be a good idea to come out another day for the photos. If the
clouds cover to much of the light and I can’t get a clear enough photo, I’ll have to get some
practice photos to see how they turn out and if it’s still at a bad quality I’ll have to come back on a
different day.
