children in sports. Our clients are why we do what we do. Founded by Gus Cerro,
the business began operations back in 2005. Our aim was to provide high quality
sports education through the worlds most popular sport Football .
We believe Football development is a very important and powerful medium in
creating an environment where children can grow and learn through creative play.
Over the years we have learned through research, trial and error along with a
need to evolve our methodology, that we can greatly contribute in a positive
manner and add great value towards the development of character in children.

About Foundation Football
3. To become world class in any field requires a thorough knowledge of the process.
Many children aspire to play the game for their favourite teams, they dream of
one day being like their idols. These factors however only play a small part of the
road to success. The reality is that reaching the highest echelon of the game is not
an easy path. From the may years of researching, reading and through my own
experiences I have come to learn that there is a high price to pay for success. It
requires a team in order to support an individual in their quest. The first and most
important factor is the understanding that there is no such thing as someone
being born with talent. Talent is what you acquire through hard work, time and
effort. Some people may be born with a certain personality that allows them to
achieve greater heights but everyone must pay the price.
Football development starts by nurturing a love for the ball, not for the game.
From the age of birth to 7 children are in the beta stage, it is a period of their lives
where they are not fully conscious. They live in the now not focusing on past or
future. Those that encourage their children to play with a ball at home from the
youngest of ages are embedding that love in the child's sub conscious. If a child
does not love the ball then the chances of success diminish, this is not to say that
there is no chance but football is a game of opportunity. It is by giving your
children every opportunity to practice and be influenced by good coaches and
mentors that drives the passion forward.
In todays society football is more than just a game it is a social tool for well being
physical and mental health. Those that improve in their skill set are more likely to
continue playing right through until their twilight years. The environment that the
game provides is one of belonging a basic human need that makes people feel
safe. Today more than ever football is a means to a better life.

Sport is no longer just an activity
4. Our Aim
Our aim is to develop a players, self confidence and ability through our unique philosophy,
methodology and curriculum. Over the years we have formulated our system of development
based on research and education. We have learned that environment plays a crucial role in the
development of skills necessary to enjoy, learn, compete and ultimately excel in a sports
environment. Sport is an educational passion, a place of expression and creativity. It is through
sport that children learn many life lessons and they do this indirectly by way of the game. We
teach children to respect the game, respect their environment and their peers. We do this by
focusing not only on how to play the sport with intelligence but also by controlling the
environment and in doing this we try to leave no stone unturned.
We value what we call self actualisation, the ability to take responsibility for ones own personal
destiny. Emotional intelligence is learned through environment and guidance. Being able to
assist children to embrace ones self worth is done through acceptance that failure only leads to
success if one is willing to believe in themselves. When failure occurs ones level of emotional
intelligence can be measured by how well they respond to those bumps in the road.
Our training sessions are challenging and filled with opportunity to solve problems through
games that require individual improvement through team co-operation. We work on the
principle of we win as opposed to I win. Self actualised individuals are unstoppable and do not
require motivation. This is why environment and consistency is crucial.
• A copy of our curriculum is available to those who wish to understand our methodology
further. Contact us via email office@foundationfootball.com.au
5. Part of our extensive curriculum is the importance of our philosophy. Our programs are
driven by principles. Principles are governing laws, when one lives by principles they are living
a life which encompasses high level of morals that lead to good social values. We believe
that football is the culmination of 3 things, the first is the acquisition of knowledge. The more
knowledgeable one becomes the higher the level of skill that is attained. Improved skills leads
to a desire to work hard for successful outcomes.
Within that context are the 5 C’s. We aim to implement the environment where the 5 c’s are
enhanced and taught. These skills are essential in delivering our successful outcomes and
they are part of our methodology in the process.
6. WHY SHOULD YOU SEND YOUR CHILD TO A FOOTBALL SCHOOL?
• Many children aspire to play the game at an advanced level. However football is a highly
complex game that requires many years to master proficiency. The game today is much
faster and more tactical than ever before. Less than 1 % of the football population will
make it to the top.
• There are many reasons why your child should take their sport seriously but the main ones
are the life lessons, sport when taken seriously is a healthy drug and becoming a
professional athlete is the bi product from years of good sports development.
• The key period of development know as “the golden years” age 2-12, are crucial to laying
the foundations for longevity in the sport. “A FUTBOL BASE”, we offer the participant a
detailed curriculum which focuses on the individual without disrupting the importance of
team ethos. It is during this key period that children develop Myelin more rapidly. Myelin is
a sheath that covers the brains neuron connections. In children, myelin arrives in a series of
waves, some of them determined by biological code, some of them dependent on activity.
These waves last into young adulthood. Until this time, the brain is extraordinarily
receptive to learning new skills.
• Coupled with the knowledge that we have a detailed curriculum with everyone on board
striving for the same positive outcomes gives us the ability to be consistent. Consistency in
the learning model is crucial to our success as educators.
• Furthermore there is plenty of previous scientific studies that have shown a link or
correlation between fitness or sports participation and better academic performance in the
classroom.
• On the social front, football has all of the tools to be a huge force in making change and
resulting in positive community and social outcomes.
• As community football is played by male and females well into adulthood there are
important health benefits to the community in the prevention of serious disease. Mental
health is most prevalent in young people and football provides the physical activity and
social networks to help reduce anxiety and depression.
7. Elite sports participation
Opportunity and Circumstance
• For a player to achieve a high level of play they require first and foremost opportunity. If
your child is born between the months of January and July, statistics in football and any
other elite sport which encompasses early identification through cut off dates show that
players closer to the those cut off dates (in Australia's case 1st of January) are more likely to
get selected for advanced programs. This is not always because they are more talented it is
generally because they are more mature and have had more time to develop than say a
child born in September to December. If they are selected then they will be exposed to a
greater level of coaching and opportunity throughout the corresponding years, therefore
they will naturally improve more than a child who gets left behind or does not receive a
good level of coaching and assistance. This has also been the case in school academic
programs.
• FF offers all kids a chance to receive a better level of professional coaching and thus a
greater opportunity to develop to their full potential. FF offers kids an alternate pathway as
well as a way to compliment the club pathway.
• From ages 2-12 years we believe that this is the most critical stage of development in
children's ability and skill. To attain a high level, training 1-2 days a week is nowhere near
enough. When we look a the best/world class athletes or artists they will tell you that on
average they would have practiced their craft from 4-6 hours per day. It cannot be a
sometimes activity.
• Training to be the best that one can be requires discipline, hard work, sacrifice and
dedication amongst many other factors that must be present. Ultimately a child can not
become successful without the support of their parents and for parents to be able to
support their kids they too need to understand the process of development and the
industry in which their child wishes to flourish in.
• The key is that if you have to motivate then you are not providing your child with the right
environment. Children need a push but in a good way and for children to want to work
hard they have to have fun. Children are not motivate by money or dreams they are
motivated by enjoyment, the social aspect and the feeling of belonging to something
special. Where they are safe and feel like thewy have a connection.

15. F.A.Q
Frequently asked Questions
• Q - Can my child play for a club?
• A – Yes, FF is here to compliment your child’s club participation. However some families have
chosen to by-pass clubs at the younger ages as club football has very little quality tuition.
• Q - Is the uniform compulsory?
• A – Yes, The uniform is compulsory. The ATP program has more equipment as it is an ambition
program, from time to time we play tournaments and friendly games and trainings are rarely ever
cancelled.
• Q - Do I have to pay my fees in advance ?
• A – Only those doing term by term programs require fees paid per term in advance. ATP Fees are
calculated Monthly from the start date and are payable in instalments each month. Uniforms do
not need to be replaced every year but payment for uniforms is in advance.
• Q – What happens when it rains?
• A – Generally if grounds are closed and the weather is bleak we cancel by 4pm. We send out an
email and post the update on Facebook. If you don’t here from us training is on. However if you are
still not sure it is best to call or text in advance to make sure.
• Q – What happens if a session is cancelled due to weather?
• A – For Term by term programs make up classes will be scheduled in the school holidays. ATP
players are able to make up classes at our other venues, therefore there will be no make ups for
ATP. ATP single session plans can do makeups during camps only when we cancel a session. Always
check your email prior to any sessions in case of unforeseen circumstances that require
cancellation.
• Q – What happens if I miss a training session?
• A - We do not provide refunds for missed training sessions, in rare instances where players miss up
to 4 classes or more due to injury or illness we will discuss the matter privately with parents to
work out a fair solution. Should you not be attending for any reason you must contact us to allow
our coaches time to alter any session plans as we work on the basis of our regular numbers when
planning and preparing a training session.
• Q. Can I just drop off my child and pick them up after training?
• A. Yes, however this must be no earlier than 15 minutes prior to training commencing. Any child
dropped off prior to this will need to be supervised by a parent or guardian. The coaches will only
be responsible for the players once your child is in the supervision of our coaches no earlier than 15
mins prior to the session commencing. To ensure this is the case it is important that all children are
dropped off by parents or guardians at the field of training to their designated area and then also
picked up at the field at the conclusion of training as indicated in your welcome pack. The coaches
will supervise all children during training however it is a parent or guardian’s sole responsibility to
ensure the children are picked up and dropped off.
•
• Q – How do I register my child
