2. Song and artist
Can’t pretend by Tom Odell.
The genre of this song is Indie pop/soul.
Indie Pop music videos are conventionally
all mostly performance based video….
The reason why we cause this song is
that…..
We wanted to use this song because we
think it has a particular meaning
3. Video concept
For the narrative we have taken inspiration from rudimental ‘Waiting all night’.
This has a narrative about a man who has been hit by a car and has lost his
legs. It is about him trying to find life again in the sport that he enjoy. We plan to
make something similar to this with a more powerful message as our character
is riddled with depression.
For a music video we have chosen to make it completely narrative so that the
audience can immerse themselves in the powerful message.
Our song choice reflects our movement as well. ‘Cant pretend’ by Tom Odell is
a soul/indie rock song which has powerful lyrics which go with our narrative.
Our character ‘Can’t pretend’ to be something that he is not, he has to find his
new place in society. The song has both upbeat and downbeat moments which
gives us movement to create a motivational narrative.
4. Video narrative
One male character who is disabled
He battles life as well as his disability
which can be quite depressing not being
able to walk.
We will see him trying to perform simple
task and fail.
We see the improvement of our character
as takes joy in his sport wheel chair
basketball.
We see him find his place in society as he
embraces who he is.

looked like before his incident.
THE LOOK:
Basketball: In this scene we will use a
light filter which will reflect the mood of our
character. It will show the audience that the
sport he is doing is making him feel good.
Bedroom scenes: Here we will be using a
dark filter which once again will reflect his
mood. It shows the audience that he is
depressed and alone.

address them through the video.
We intend to attract the audience through
the narrative, the video will appeal to those
who are young, the gender that might me
attracted the most to the video will be male.
People who have been inspired b the 2012
Paralympics will be inspired by our video.
The audience can possibly relate to the
narrative of the video which will be the
struggles of life. Particularly those who are
handicapped. This video will inspire people
to imitate our character.
Are unique selling point in the video is the
wheelchair basketball aspect. This is a
motivational video which has powerful
contrast with the music and the lyrics.
Our audience will mostly be sports
enthusiasts or people who are big
supporters of Tom Odell.
