8. Introduction to the Project
PROJECT TITLE: “RSB GROUPS OF INSTITUTION WEBSITE”
Before creating any websites its common practice to visualize the layout, the
design and all the feature you intend to incorporate. In addition you think
about how users will interact with each page and how the sites should perform
(behavior, load time etc).
In software engineering, establishing a list of requirement for a program is
referred to as developing the functional and non functional requirements.
It is a key step in development process and one that is not only applied to
software development, but websites development as well.
We need to take a look at the difference between functional and non functional
requirements. We’re developing a website that should process visitor’s
request, which comprises of educational as well course material covering all
branches of graduation and post graduation courses.
This Websites refers to the computerization and Internationalization of manual
work of Rai Saheb Bhanwar singh college. The Rai Saheb Bhanwar singh
college works in Educational field.

14. Feasibility study
A Feasibility study is a test of a system proposal according to its workability,
impact on the organization, ability to meet user needs and effective use of the
resources. It focuses on the three major questions:
What the user’s demonstrable needs and how does a candidate system
meet them?
What resources are available for given candidate system? Is the
problem worth solving?
What is the likely impact of the candidate system on the organization?
Many Feasibility studies are disillusioning for both user and analysts. First the
study often presupposes that when the Feasibility document is being prepared,
the analyst is in the position to evaluate solutions. Second, most studies tend
to overlook the confusion inherent in system development the constraints and
the assumed attitudes. If the Feasibility study is to serve as a decision
documents, it must answer three key questions:
Is there a new and better way to do the job that will benefit the user?
What are the cost and savings of the alternatives?
What is recommended?
The most successful system is not necessarily the biggest or most visible in a
business but rather those that truly meet user expectations. Most projects fail
because of inflated expectations than for any other reason.
Feasibility study is the analyzing process that determines the worthiness of the
system in terms of cost, technicality operations and environments. The
negative results of the feasibility study may windup the development process.
The positive results of this stage push the development process. Feasibility of
system depends on the number of factors. These factors are related to the
various constraints of an organization. On the basis of these constraints
feasibility of system divided into following parts:
Technical Feasibility
Economic Feasibility
Behavioral Feasibility
15. Technical Feasibility
This type of feasibility study is undertaken to find whether the given solution is
possible to implement in giving geological location, technical knowledge and
the available skilled manpower. In this study first of all technical information
and equipment must be available, then there must be skilled manpower to
handle the technical aspect and the physical location where the equipment will
be installed and from where the manpower will work. Technical Feasibility
centers around on the existing system (hardware, software etc.) and to what
extent it can support the proposed addition. For example, if the current
system is operating at 80 percent capacity-an arbitrary ceiling- Then running
another application could overload the system or require additional hardware.
This involves financial considerations to accommodate technical
enhancements. If the budget is a serious constraint, then the project is judged
not Feasible.
Economic Feasibility
It is most frequently used method for evaluating the effectiveness of a
candidate system. More commonly known as cost/benefit analysis, the
procedure is to determine the benefits and savings that are expected from a
candidate system as compare them with costs. If benefits outweigh costs,
then the decision is made to design and implementation the system.
Otherwise further justification or alterations in the proposed system will have
to be made if it is to have a chance of being approved. This an ongoing effort
that improves an accuracy at each phase of the system life cycle. The most
important for any new system undertaking is that it should be economically
feasible. Any system primarily is undertaken to improve efficiency and to bring
down the cost. If the new system promises to be economically feasible and
satisfies other feasibility criteria than the given suggestion can be
implemented and further steps may be initiated.
Behavioral Feasibility
People are inherently resistant to change and system has been known to
facilitate change. An estimate should be made of how strong a reaction the
user staff is likely to have toward the development of the computerized
system. It is common knowledge that computer installation has some thing to
do with turnover, transfer, retraining and changes in employee job status.
Therefore, it is understandable that the introduction of a candidate system
requires special effort to educate, sell and train the stop on new way of
conducting business.
17. Tools and technology used in project:
HTML
DHTML
Java scripts
CSS.
Adobe PhotoShop
Introduction to HTML:
HTML is the standard markup language for creating Web pages.
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language
HTML describes the structure of Web pages using markup
HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages
HTML elements are represented by tags
HTML tags label pieces of content such as "heading", "paragraph", "table", and
so on
Browsers do not display the HTML tags, but use them to render the content of
the page
HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language, and it is the most widely used
language to write Web Pages.
Hypertext refers to the way in which Web pages (HTML documents) are linked
together. Thus, the link available on a webpage is called Hypertext.
As its name suggests, HTML is a Markup Language which means you use HTML to
simply "mark-up" a text document with tags that tell a Web browser how to structure it
to display.
Originally, HTML was developed with the intent of defining the structure of documents
like headings, paragraphs, lists, and so forth to facilitate the sharing of scientific
information between researchers.
Introduction to DHTML:
DHTML stands for Dynamic HTML.
DHTML is NOT a language or a web standard.
DHTML is a TERM used to describe the technologies used to make web pages dynamic
and interactive.
To most people DHTML means the combination of HTML, JavaScript, DOM, and CSS.
18. Introduction to javascripts:
JavaScript is a dynamic computer programming language. It is lightweight and most
commonly used as a part of web pages, whose implementations allow client-side
script to interact with the user and make dynamic pages. It is an interpreted
programming language with object-oriented capabilities.
JavaScript was first known as LiveScript, but Netscape changed its name to
JavaScript, possibly because of the excitement being generated by Java. JavaScript
made its first appearance in Netscape 2.0 in 1995 with the name LiveScript. The
general-purpose core of the language has been embedded in Netscape, Internet
Explorer, and other web browsers.
Introduction to CSS:
Cascading Style Sheets, fondly referred to as CSS, is a simple design language
intended to simplify the process of making web pages presentable.
CSS handles the look and feel part of a web page. Using CSS, you can control the
color of the text, the style of fonts, the spacing between paragraphs, how columns
are sized and laid out, what background images or colors are used, layout
designs, variations in display for different devices and screen sizes as well as a variety
of other effects.
CSS is easy to learn and understand but it provides powerful control over the
presentation of an HTML document. Most commonly, CSS is combined with the
markup languages HTML or XHTML.
Introduction to Adobe photoshop:
Adobe Photoshop, computer application software used to edit and manipulate
digital images. Photoshop was developed in 1987 by the American brothers Thomas
and John Knoll, who sold the distribution license to Adobe Systems Incorporated in
1988. In adobe photoshop we can edit modify the images and we can used so many
effects and tools to enhance the quality of an images using this software.
20. System Analysis and Design
System analysis and design is an application about analysis of the system and
how it relate to shaping organization, improving performance and achieving
objectives for profitability and growth using computer based system. The
emphasis is on system in action, the relationship among subsystem and their
contribution to meet a common goal.
OR
“System analysis and design is the application of the system approach to
problem solving using computers.”
Definition
“The term System is derived from the Greek word systema, which means an
organized relationship among functioning units or components”.

22. System Development Life Cycle
A traditional process for conducting an information systems development
project is called the systems development life cycle (SDLC). The SDLC is a
complete set of steps that a team of information systems professionals,
including database designers and programmers, follow in an organization to
specify, develop, maintain and replace information systems. The process is
often viewed as cascade of steps. The metaphor of a cascade of steps or
waterfall is used since each step flows into the next; that is, the total
specification of the information system is developed in pieces, and the output
from one piece is used as input to subsequent pieces.
Each phase of the SDLC includes activities related to the database
development, so database management issues are pervasive throughout the
systems development process.
There is not a one-to-one correspondence between SDLC phases and database
development steps.
Steps in System Development Life cycle are
Step 1. Project Identification And Selection
Purpose To develop a preliminary understanding of the business situation that
has caused the request for a new or an enhanced information system.
Deliverable A formal request to conduct a project to design and develop an
information
Systems solution to the business problems or opportunities.
Step 2. Project Initiation and Planning
Purpose To state business situation and how information systems might have
solved a problem or make an opportunity possible.
Deliverable A written request to study the possible changes to an existing
system or the development of a new system.
Step 3. Analysis

39. There are many advantages of this system, some of which are given below
Simple in use
The main advantage of this website is its simplicity. User can use the website
very easily.
Provide Security
One of the main advantage of this website is use of passwords for providing
security.
Maintain Records
One of the advantage of this system is keeping the records.
Providing Tips
Another advantage is it is providing valuable tips for students and staff related
to educational, results or other useful information.
.
41. White Box Testing:
White Box Testing sometimes called Glass Box Testing, is a test case designed method
that uses the control of the procedural design to derive test cases. Using White Box
Testing method the software engineers can derive test cases
Guarantee that all independent paths within a module have been exercised at
least once.
Exercise all logical decisions their true and false sides.
Exercise all loops at their boundaries and within their operational bounds.
Exercise internal data structure to ensure their validity.
White Box Testing is used to overcome the following
Logical errors and incorrect assumptions are inversely proportional to
the probability that a program path will be executed. Error tends to
creep into our work when we design and implement functions,
conditions or control that are out of mainstream.
We often believe that a logical path is not likely to be executed when , in
fact , it may be executed on a regular basis the logical flow of a program
is sometimes counterintuitive , meaning that our unconscious
assumption abut flow of control and data may lead us to make design
errors that are uncovered only once path testing commences.
Typographical errors and random. When a program is translated into
programming languages source , code it is likely that some typing errors
will be uncovered by syntax and type checking mechanism but others
may be undetected until testing begins, it is as likely that a typo will
exists on an obscure logical path as on a main stream path.
Data flow testing
The data flow testing method selects testing path of a program according
to the location of definition and uses variables in the program. A number of
data flow testing strategies have been studied compared.
Black Box Testing
Black Box Testing also called behavioral testing, focuses on the functional
requirements of the software. That is Black Box Testing enables the software
engineer to derive sets of input condition that will fully exercised all functional
requirements for a program. Black Box testing is not an alternative to White
Box techniques. Black Box testing attempts to find errors in the following
categories.
Incorrect or missing functions.
Interface errors.
Errors in data structure or external database access.
42. Behavior or performance errors.
Initialization and terminal errors.
Validation Testing
At the culmination of integration testing, software is completely assembled as
a package, interfacing errors have been uncovered and corrected, and final
series of software test - VALIDATION TESTING - may begin.
Validation succeeds when software function in a manner that can be
reasonably expectations are defined in the software requirements
specifications that describes all the users – visible attributes of the software.
Unit Testing
Unit Testing which involves the testing of individuals modules is usually carried
out to ensure validity of those particular modules. In this project module or
subsystem was first individually tested for errors.
Integration Testing
Integration Testing is of software also carried out. The strategies were an
incremental one. We know that certain are related to the interactive of these
programs. Modules can not be found by a interactive test. When test performs
which exercise interfaces among program module is known as integration
testing.
Security
Security is critical in system development. The amount of protection depends
on the sensitivity of the data, the reliability of the use and the complexity of
the system. The motives behind security are to keep the organization running,
project data as in asset and seek management supports for the more
installation. There are three levels of data security.
Physical Security (Protection from fire, flood etc.)
Database integrity through validation techniques
Control Measures through passwords, encryption & monitoring users
security requirements
Database Security
Data Security includes the mechanism that control the access and use of the
database at the schema object level.
Prevent unauthorized database access.
Prevent unauthorized access to schema objects.
Control disk usage.
Control System resource usage (such as CPU Time).
43. System Security
System Security includes the mechanism that controls the access and use of
the database at system level.
Valid user name/Passwords combinations.
The amount of disk spaces available to user schema level objects.
The resource limits for a user.
Errors and omissions.
Dishonest employee.
Unauthorized manipulations.
Alpha Testing
“The Customer does alpha testing at developers site. It is conducted in a
controlled environment with developer, looking over the shoulders.”
During Alpha Testing developer records error and usage problem. We done this
testing on developer site to test all functions related with administrator and no
errors found and problem while executing the module.
Beta Testing
Beta Testing is done at one or more customer sites by the end user of the
software. It is conducted in an environment that can not be controlled by
developer. During beta test customer records all problems and submit reports
to the developer for the modification at regular interval.
45. Limitations
There are a few limitation of having a website . Generally though, they are outweighed by
numerous advantages.
Reliability:
The information on website might be unreliable if not updated on a regular basis. You need to
ensure that changes are made when necessary and have a disclaimer with regards to the reliability
of the information contained within.
Difficultly Reaching The Right People:
Because of the nature of the internet and the sheer number of businesses already on the World
Wide Web, you may find it difficult to reach the right target audience with your website.
SPAM:
We all hate spam. The internet equivalent of junk mail. This is one of the disadvantages of a
website which can cause you some grief. With a contact form or your e-mail address published on
your website, you’ll soon find your inbox filling up with spam e-mails unless you use FormGuard or
a captcha tool.
Bad Publicity
Having a website risks attracting bad publicity. If a customer is unhappy with your service or
products, then they may feel the need to vent their frustrations online and reference your website in
their review/comments. This could be potentially damaging, hurting both your reputation and your
search engine ranking.
47. Future Enhancement
The whole website is divided into different modules ang segments , each
module is deals with different aspect of the project.
Although the project is developed by us are quite comprehensive and we have
tried our level best to incorporate all the possible aspects into it however
there‘s still a tremendous scope for future enhancements.
The future enhancement of this project include the fulfilling some of the
requirement of the user, as like
To Process the pages as fast as possible through optimization technique.
Reduce The Time Period uploading and downloading for content.
Paper work to be Removing.
Plan to deploy this website over the web server to reach it worldwide.
Although we put our maximum effort to bring out this system yet as someone
has rightly said “No body is perfect in this world”. Hence there might be some
drawbacks in this website Therefore I welcome all suggestions, ideas about
this website.
49. Conclusions
The website is now at the stage where it has been implemented and tested for
any errors. The system has been able to successfully incorporate all the
requirements specified by the user appropriately. All the requirement care has
been taken during the front end design in such a way that further modification
can be done easily.
Advantages
Reports are generated at any instant and system is also answerable to the
queries done by end user.
Ensuring features
1. Checking the availability resources available.
2. Redundancy of manual records.
3. Generating reports become easier and results time consumption.
The website has been given adequate scope for modification in future if it is
necessary. The user is provided a friendly interface by hiding all technical
complexities.
