Brain, Body and Bytes: Designing Brain-Computer Interaction Beyond Medical Applications
1. Brain, Body and Bytes:
Designing Brain-Computer Interaction
Beyond Medical Applications
Areej Al-Wabil, PhD
Principal Investigator, Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES), KACST
Research Fellow, Ideation Lab, School of Engineering, MIT
Brain, Body and Bytes (SKERG Seminar) – Jan 19, 2016
2. Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) carry the promise of natural and
intuitive human-computer interaction (HCI) design. BCI technology has
matured to the extent that it is available for a broad range of
applications in the context of daily use.
While most BCI technology was developed for medical applications,
we present a wide spectrum of non-medical applications that have
been developed in SKERG in the past 3 years, including device control,
user state monitoring and emotion-aware responsive gaming
applications.
