Conclusions
 Today, when almost everyone has a personal Facebook
page, users who would like to gain information about the
academic libraries and follow them are heading towards the
web pages like Facebook.
 Facebook pages have no adequate information and the
Facebook pages of academic libraries are utilized for
personal communication, private photos and videos. It is
revealed that utilizing from Facebook pages of academic
libraries in a personal profile page type is difficult.
 The usage level of web services such as Library Search and
JSTOR is low. Academic libraries do not give links of their
Facebook pages in their official web sites. This reduces the
reliability of libraries’ Facebook pages.

Suggestions
QQML 2013, 4-7 June 2013, Italy, Rome
 In social networks, the formality of academic libraries
should be maintained.
 In their official web pages, academic libraries should
give their links of social network sites they use and
they should give their social network link on
“Communication” tab if they have.
 In Facebook pages, unnecessary personal photos and
videos should not be shared. Instead, videos and
photos about library should be shared.
Suggestions

 Because they pose an obstacle in instant
communication, , profil pages and group pages
should not be used as a Facebook page type.
Instead, “like page type” should be used.
 The Facebook pages of academic libraries should be
opened with their official names and abbreviations
should not be used.
 New technologies should be kept up with and
technological applications (e.g.JSTOR) should be
integrated into the Facebook pages. .Education about
social network and Facebook usage should be given
to librarians.
