2. HELLO!I AM HAMEDTAHERDOOST,
the award-winning leader and R&D Professional, and the founder of
Hamta Group.
I have over two decades of experience in both industry and academic
sectors, and I have been highly involved in development of several
important projects in different industries .
I have been an active multidisciplinary researcher working with
researchers from various disciplines and have been actively engaged
in several academic and industrial research projects.
My views on science and technology have been published in top-
ranked scientific publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Emerald, IEEE,
IGI Global, Inderscience, Taylor and Francis and have published
over 120 scientific articles, seven book chapters as well as six books in
the field of technology and research methodology.
I am Senior Member of IEEE, IASED, IEDRC, Working group member of
IFIP TC 11, Member of CSIAC, & ACT-IAC.

3. The word ‘research’ is
derived from the Latin
word meaning “to
know”
Research means
Re-Search; searching
again
Research: A Definition
Derived from the Middle
French "recherche",
meaning "to go about
seeking"
4. What is
ResearchA systematic and organized effort to
investigate a specific problem that
needs a solution. It is a series of steps
designed and followed, with the goal of
finding answers to the issues that are of
concern to us in the work environment.
4
5. “Research is the systematic approach to obtaining and
confirming new and reliable knowledge”
- Systematic and orderly (following a series of steps)
- Purpose is new knowledge, which must be reliable
5
6. What is Research Methodology
Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods
applied to a field of study.
It comprises the theoretical analysis of the body of methods and
principles associated with a branch of knowledge.
Methodology is useful to guide and help in order to obtain the objectives
of a research project.
This consists of the purpose, assumptions, limitations, philosophy,
strategy, data collection method, sampling method, scaling, data analysis,
validity and reliabilityof the research.
6
7. Why Research
Methodology?!
o It gives researcher guidelines for the way
which should collect necessary information
for a study investigation and analyzing
matters.
o It increases the possibility to receive
appropriate answers.
o It provides systematic and universal technique
for collecting and observing the data.
o It can help to gain valuable conclusions.

8. Survey / Questionnaire
One of the important research tool is questionnaire.
Decision makers and researchers across all academic and industry
sectors conduct surveys and questionnaires to uncover answers to
specific, significant questions.
Surveys can be an effective tools for data collection required for
research and evaluation.
In order to develop a survey/questionnaire, first the researcher should
decide how to collect the required data. In this regard, scaling is the
branch of measurement that involves the construction of an
instrument.
8Survey VS Questionnaire ?!
9. Questionnaire
A questionnaire is a set
of questions typically used for
research purposes which can be
both qualitative aswell
as quantitative in nature.
Questionnaire Vs Survey: Is There A Difference?
Survey
A survey is a sophisticated quantitative
researchmethod comprisedof
questionnaire with the intention of
efficient gathering of data from a set of
respondents.

A questionnairemayormaynot be
deliveredin theformofa survey, but a
surveyalways consists ofquestionnaire.
