What is the classroom management?
• Classroom management can be defined as
systematic and conscious applications of
concept, model and techniques in planning,
organizing and evaluating processes in order to
achieve educational purposes.
What is our aim?
• Eliminating barriers which student and teacher
encounter while studying
• Using class time effectively and providing
students’ active participation to class.
• Realizing effective education and communication.
Why cannot good classroom
management be provided in
Turkey?

Literature Review
• According to specialists in the field of education, school and
classroom management aims at encouraging and establishing
student self-control through a process of promoting positive
student achievement and behavior.
• Thus academic achievement, teacher efficacy, and teacher
and student behavior are directly linked with the concept of
school and classroom management.
• Research shows that a high incidence of classroom
disciplinary problems has a significant impact on the
effectiveness of teaching and learning.
• Researchers have pointed out the importance of assisting
students in positive behaviors. In planning classroom
management, teachers should consider using an assertive
communication style and behavior.
• In addition, they should always know what they want their
students to do and involve them in the respective learning
activities
(http://www.intime.uni.edu/model/teacher/teac3summary.html)
• Teacher's success reflects in the success of the students as the
director' success reflects in his film. Teachers must take into
account some aspects in order to perform an effective
classroom management.
• Teacher should be aware of any behavior by students have
been followed carefully. The students are like a mirror of the
teacher.
• Teachers should enter in the classroom with daily lesson plan.
• The skill of teachers in the teaching of the subject have great
importance.

BOOK REVIEW
• There are some methods to support learning
of students in the classroom. These are:
1. Teacher counselling method
2. Behavioristic method
3. Teacher effective approach
Methods
Teacher counselling method
In this method teacher can be considered as a
counselor. Teacher tries to identify the causes of
students’ misbehavior. He/she responds to
misbehavior with logical consequences and
carries out family and classroom meetings.
Methods
Behavioristic method
This method provides desired classroom
environment and classroom discipline. Teacher
ignores inappropriate behavior while reinforces
appropriate behavior. Behavior modification
techniques are used.
Methods
Teacher effective approach
In contrast to other two methods, teacher
effectiveness method is applied before problem
arise. Teacher with classroom management skills
prevents undesirable behavior by;
communicating students who need to solve
problems and to continue in their learning.
active listening to discover the feelings
behind the misbehavior.
inspiring, motivating, and negotiating with
students.

Evaluation of the Survey
– According to survey, teachers said that discipline
problems may arise from students’ families. Violence
and loss of family members effects students deeply.
– Participant teachers criticized their own behaviors.
They said that acting differently to some students and
inexperience are a problem for classroom
management.
– Only 3 of 14 teachers answered the last question and
they shared their experience about classroom
management and they also mentioned their solutions.
Suggestions
Suggestions
• At the beginning of
the semester, to
engage students
actively in the process
of determining a set
of class rules would
be more effective to
control students'
unfavorable behaviors
during class.
https://www.pinterest.com/explore/class-
rules-poster/
• To handle situations quietly and calmly is
helpful to communicate with students in a
good way .Teacher shouldn't make a big
deal for the student in front of the whole
class.
• Teacher should use
proper language
to approach the
student who makes
mistake instead of
slang language.
With this, teacher
can show her/him
to respect his/her
dignity.
• To provide
classroom-
management
training, conflict
resolution,
guidance
counseling, and
mediation would be
useful for improving
teachers who are
inexperienced and
discipline.
• Teacher should try to
understand the cause
of unfavorable
behaviors of
students. So, if it
causes from
performance deficit
or problems about
his/her parents,
teacher can fix it by
providing motivation.
• The government should offer new tasks
or agreements for the order of class because
the number of students should be matched
with the size of class. Also, it is quite
important for an effective lesson.
Limitations
• Restricted number of participants.
• Restricted number of questions.
• Participants selected in only one area.

personal-limitations/
