MSc/MArch SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN 2006-07
To Whom It May Concern,
Ms. Farah Naz, has successfully completed the full-time post-professional Masters of Architecture degree in
Sustainable Environmental Design in February 2008. During the course Farah acquired technical
knowledge of principles of sustainable architecture and the fundamental physics behind those
principles. She learned how to use and apply analytical (simulation) tools that allow her to test the
performance of her design ideas.
Her final project for the MArch dissertation was entitled “Energy Efficient Garment Factories in Bangladesh”
for which I was her tutor.
Farah’s work during the Masters course was always concerned with the social effects of architecture, an
interest which culminated in her dissertation. Here she showed mature research capability especially in her
fieldwork where she sourced valuable original information through analytic observation, questionnaires and
on site measurements. I am convinced her dissertation is a very good stepping stone for more projects of
such a kind, may they be academic or real.
