Course Details
This is a physically and mentally demanding course which will test an operator’s ability to function under the
pressure of simulated combat conditions and in a team environment.
HCT is primarily interested in assessing your ability to demonstrate and thereafter translate small unit combat
(CQB) tactics into a high threat protective security environment.
Course participants will receive a final proficiency score rating to reflect their (1) overall physical conditioning
readiness level, (2) small unit combat tactical skill, and (3) ability to function in a team environment under
simulated combat conditions. (Reference: ICAS Evaluation Report Card)
The results of your ICAS performance (your “score”), will be submitted along with your resume or CV, and other
credentials when applying to private security firms for protective security detail employment.
Participants will be placed in 4/6/ to 8 man teams, fully equipped with state-of-the art airsoft assault rifles, pistols,
tactical radios, and full load bearing gear.
Day One
0800 hrs: Brief prospective security operators as to HCT company history, staff, operations, strategic alliances,
membership affiliations and our mission. There will be a discussion regarding private security contracting firms,
force protection law and the private security contractor, rules of engagement, risks associated with the job,
personal liability insurance, and – the good, the bad and the ugly of this industry.
A question and answer period is provided before candidates are shuttled to the field for actual training.
*Complete any and all necessary pre-deployment paperwork.
Weapon Handling Skill Assessment & Evaluation
0900 hrs to 1100 hrs: HCT instructors and range safety officers will direct participants to the training area. You
will be issued an M4, H&K MP-5, AK-47 assault rifle and a 9mm pistol. HCT instructors will explain and
demonstrate certain weapon handling common tasks. Afterwards, each candidate will be assessed and evaluated in
the following areas:
• Ability to load, unload and assemble various assault rifles.
• Demonstrate basic combat shooting techniques and skill: stance, grips, breathing, sight alignment, target
acquisition, target indexing and shot group placement. Prone, sitting, kneeling and standing positions.
• Demonstrate quick draw ability from concealed carry and various ready positions.
• Perform tactical and hasty reloading of the pistol and assault rifle. (Includes successfully negotiation of
weapon malfunction/jamming scenarios).
• Shooting on the move and from awkward positions. Negotiate assigned targets through Immediate Action
Drills (IAD’s).
Protective Formations – Small Unit Tactics
1100 hrs to 13:00 hrs: HCT instructors will demonstrate and explain the purpose and mechanics of various small
unit tactical formations. Formations taught in our course include: wedge, column, open box/closed box, line/train,
arrowhead and the diamond formation. *2/4/5 and six man scenarios.
Historically these formations have been used by US Armed Forces personnel during battle, but they have been
modified for use in high threat protective security environment.

React To Contact Drills
1400 hrs to 1530 hrs: Close quarters combat instruction and skill assessment evaluation will continue in the 5
room shoot-house and in the HCT warehouse. As candidates perform dynamic entry (room and hallway) clearing
procedures they will be required to demonstrate proper weapon discipline, maintain their sector of fire (primary
and secondary), and follow small unit SOP, and communicate effectively via hand, radio and verbal methods.
Demonstrate the following:
• Peering a corner (one and two-man), low-high technique
• Negotiate an “L” intersection, and “T” intersection using proper techniques.
• CQB movement; staggered formation, serpentine, rolling “t”.
• An emphasis will be placed on effective small unit communication in a CQB environment.
• Immediate Action Drills with a principle and role players.
OPORD Preparation & Warning Order Issuance
1530 hrs to 1600 hrs: Develop your unit mission statement. Prepare an Operation Order (OPORD) and subsequent
Warning Order for subordinate units. Prepare the order in the standard OPORD format. *To successfully complete
a full scale mission against OPFOR, additional subject matter will be covered. (Surveillance and counter-
surveillance, intelligence evaluation and gathering methods, advance team duties and responsibilities, tactical
communications *verbal, electronic and hand, map reading, and emergency/contingency planning).
• OPORD Preparation, written mission statement
• Develop a plan that includes all requirements for the specific mission.
• Coordinate with appropriate units for required in-transit support, intelligence, surveillance and route planning.
• Issue a Warning Order.
• Develop and complete an OP Inspection checklist.
• Perform an individual and team pre-combat inspection.
• Ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and operational
• Brief security personnel on the mission and specific duties. *Perform the mission.

Given an SUV vehicle with mounted radio and weapons, perform the necessary steps to provide security for your
convoy. This includes considering method of movement, intel, point-of-origin to destination.

• Re-organizing Team After Contact
• Escorting the Principle/Walking The Package
• Emergency Extraction of Principle
• Vehicle Search Procedures

Emergency Combat First Aid
1330 hrs to 1400 hrs
React to Direct Fire (Scenarios involving OPFOR)
1400 hrs to 1500 hrs: You are a member of a 4-man/6-man team with leadership responsibility. Given a tactical
situation involving foot and vehicle escort of VIP dignitaries, participants must successfully demonstrate tactical
proficiency at movement under direct fire.
Individual & Small Unit Combat Skills
1500 hrs to 1630 hrs
• Overwatch Movement
• Cover and Concealment
• Principle Shielding & Extraction
• Reorganization After Contact
Close Quarters Battle
Participants will be assessed and evaluated on their ability to function in close quarters battle scenarios. Function-
ing as a member of a 2, 4 or 6 man team, Each operator will be evaluated in the following areas:
• Tactical Approach – Movement Towards Objective – Communication
• Use of Cover & Concealment – Noise/Light & Sound Discipline
• Team Cohesion – Stacking Technique & Methods – Breaching/Entry
• Small Unit Tactical Formations – Individual & Squad Movement

Weapon Handling Skill Assessment & Evaluation 0900 hrs to 1100 hrs: HCT instructors and range safety officers will direct participants to the training area. You will be issued an M4, H&K MP-5, AK-47 assault rifle and a 9mm pistol. HCT instructors will explain and demonstrate certain weapon handling common tasks. Afterwards, each candidate will be assessed and evaluated in the following areas: • Ability to load, unload and assemble various assault rifles. • Demonstrate basic combat shooting techniques and skill: stance, grips, breathing, sight alignment, target acquisition, target indexing and shot group placement. Prone, sitting, kneeling and standing positions. • Demonstrate quick draw ability from concealed carry and various ready positions. • Perform tactical and hasty reloading of the pistol and assault rifle. (Includes successfully negotiation of weapon malfunction/jamming scenarios). • Shooting on the move and from awkward positions. Negotiate assigned targets through Immediate Action Drills (IAD’s). Protective Formations – Small Unit Tactics 1100 hrs to 13:00 hrs: HCT instructors will demonstrate and explain the purpose and mechanics of various small unit tactical formations. Formations taught in our course include: wedge, column, open box/closed box, line/train, arrowhead and the diamond formation. *2/4/5 and six man scenarios. Historically these formations have been used by US Armed Forces personnel during battle, but they have been modified for use in high threat protective security environment.   • 2. 13:00hrs - LUNCH BREAK React To Contact Drills 1400 hrs to 1530 hrs: Close quarters combat instruction and skill assessment evaluation will continue in the 5 room shoot-house and in the HCT warehouse. As candidates perform dynamic entry (room and hallway) clearing procedures they will be required to demonstrate proper weapon discipline, maintain their sector of fire (primary and secondary), and follow small unit SOP, and communicate effectively via hand, radio and verbal methods. Demonstrate the following: • Peering a corner (one and two-man), low-high technique • Negotiate an “L” intersection, and “T” intersection using proper techniques. • CQB movement; staggered formation, serpentine, rolling “t”. • An emphasis will be placed on effective small unit communication in a CQB environment. • Immediate Action Drills with a principle and role players. OPORD Preparation & Warning Order Issuance 1530 hrs to 1600 hrs: Develop your unit mission statement. Prepare an Operation Order (OPORD) and subsequent Warning Order for subordinate units. Prepare the order in the standard OPORD format. *To successfully complete a full scale mission against OPFOR, additional subject matter will be covered. (Surveillance and counter- surveillance, intelligence evaluation and gathering methods, advance team duties and responsibilities, tactical communications *verbal, electronic and hand, map reading, and emergency/contingency planning). • OPORD Preparation, written mission statement • Develop a plan that includes all requirements for the specific mission. • Coordinate with appropriate units for required in-transit support, intelligence, surveillance and route planning. • Issue a Warning Order. • Develop and complete an OP Inspection checklist. • Perform an individual and team pre-combat inspection. • Ensure that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and operational • Brief security personnel on the mission and specific duties. *Perform the mission. Given a tactical situation involving foot and vehicle escort of VIP dignitaries, participants must successfully demonstrate tactical proficiency at movement under direct fire.
