Message from Dr. Lisa Hale
2017 President
Over the last month, your dedicated board
and I have been digging into the meaning
of Professional Excellence. We have asked
ourselves, how does that theme apply to
all we do at ICF-CO? We recognize that
each dimension of how we serve the ICF
Coaches, clients, and aspiring professional
coaches closely interacts with each of the
other dimensions. We are diligently
sorting out how to move the dial on all of
these dimensions to make your
experience at ICF-CO truly valuable!
This diagram shows the key dimensions we are focused on.
We realize that WE have to be highly effective to support the growth
and recognition of professional coaching throughout this thriving
state. Thus it is this process of up-leveling the quality of our

2. Professional Excellence that we are focused on.
As always, offering outstanding programming and stellar support of
professionalism is our top agenda for our monthly meetings. In
addition to those monthly meetings, we are putting together a few
key opportunities for both experienced and new professional
coaches to be in front of potential clients in a number of exciting
ways. As part of our effort to drive professionalism and support our
members’ opportunities for growth, here are some of the programs
we are developing:
• Introduce coaching to non-profits and other organizations with
emergent leaders to provide paid coaching hours to members
seeking credentials.
• Make coaching (by our more experienced coaches) more widely
accessible inside organizations that already value professional
development.
Professional Excellence is the theme that drives all our activities. We
all know that a coaching business is something that to date, can still
be claimed, rather than earned. Yet, the coaches who are dedicated
to professional excellence stand out. Clients can tell the difference.
It is our mission to provide a resource for ongoing professional
development for those of us who are devoted to excellence. We
know that is you, since you are with us, reading this newsletter,
attending our programs.
Please tune into our coming live events, or reach out to us to find
out how to contribute to and participate in these exciting programs.
Be sure to join us on May 11 at Lowry for a brilliant program aimed
at professional excellence.

Lisa

4. 6-7pm - Special Interests Groups
7-9pm - Mini-Presentation and Main Speaker
"Courage—An INside Job!"
Main Speaker: Sandra Ford Walston, The Courage Expert
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will be conducted from 6:00 -
6:50pm before the general meeting.
Location:
Lowry Conference Center | 1061 Akron Way, Building 697, Denver,
CO 80230
What's your definition of courage and why is it vital to claim it for
yourself? Might you be curious to learn how courage plays a role in
the coaching process? Perhaps you believe courage is only
synonymous with being a hero or maybe you're curious about how
you can apply courage to make better decisions, enhance coaching
interactions or transcend rejection. How might your life change if
you discovered that some of your everyday behaviors demonstrate
profound courage?
If you feel your everyday courage is stagnant or you never found it,
then this topic is for you. Ironically, "stepping up" in courage
requires the inverse action: stepping deeper into one's true Self.
In this interactive yet contemplative presentation, attendees will
discover how courage plays a vital (or unconscious) role in their
lives. Ponder these questions:
• How does the true definition of courage play a part in the coaching
process?
• As a coach, is your everyday courage stagnant or you just haven't
recognized it?
• How does courage (or lack of courage) play a role with your
clients' journey?
• What can a coach do to instill courage in the individual being
coached?
• Why recognize the nine courage killers?
Courage is an innate quality that resides within the core of every
human being. Simply by giving ourselves permission to summons
our personal courage, we encourage those around us, making
courage contagious; hence, transforming our environment. How
receptive are you to embracing this ancient virtue?
