SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MERIT-AND-NEED BASED
SCHOLARSHIPS
With smaller classes and individual attention from faculty, you are not a
number at Southern Oregon University. Our four-year university specializes in a strong liberal arts
and sciences curriculum balanced with career-focused preparation. Our liberal arts programs are
intellectually challenging, creative and practical. You’ll be learning more than theory—you’ll be

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Founded in 1883, the university has grown from a single building, eight
teachers, two departments and 221 students to a 350-acre main campus
with 17 colleges and schools, about 24,000 faculty and staff, and more
than 50,000 students. UT is a diverse learning community, with students
from more than 100 countries and a student body that reflects the face of our society. African
American, Hispanic, and Asian American students make up more than 35 percent of the enrollment,
and 9 percent are international students.
Some academic departments at UT Austin award academic scholarships for which international
students are eligible to compete. However, many such awards are available to students only after

2. CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS
Concordia is a private, Christian, liberal arts university open to students
of any faith. Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, Concordia University is

living. Concordia provides a challenging, yet supportive learning
environment where spirited intellectual inquiry strengthens our

Concordia University in Portland, Oregon provides scholarships to Undergraduate students up to
$6,000 based on merit. Scholarships are available to both freshmen and transfer students.
Additional scholarship money may be available for students who submit SAT scores. There is no

PACIFIC UNIVERSITY MERIT- AND TALENT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Pacific University is offering large merit-based scholarships for
international undergraduate students. The range for this scholarship is $

CHATHAM UNIVERSITY MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS
Chatham University prepares students from around the world to help
develop solutions to some of the world’s greatest challenges. Throughout its history Chatham has
been innovative and entrepreneurial in its growth from a small women's college to a dynamic
University.
Undergraduate women are eligible for annually renewable merit scholarships from $7,000-$16,000
per year. International undergraduates may be eligible to apply for annually renewable World Ready
Women scholarships of up to $3,000 per year. Graduate students (men and women) may apply for
graduate assistantships.

3. CORNELL UNIVERSITY ASSISTANTSHIPS
With 5200 graduate and professional students in nearly 100 fields of
study, the Graduate School administers all graduate and professional
degrees at Cornell except the D.V.M., J.D., L.L.M., M.B.A.,, and M.D.
degrees. The Graduate School provides critical strategic leadership and administrative and
academic structures within which a diverse group of students and faculty in the graduate field
system find the support, governance systems, and encouragement to thrive intellectually and
professionally and achieve academic excellence.
Full-time Ph.D. and research master's students may be awarded assistantships, which fall into four
general categories: Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), Graduate Assistant (GA),
and Graduate Research Assistant (GRA). These awards are administered by fields and
departments. International students who come from countries where English is not the first
language and who will TA in their first semester at Cornell are required to participate in the Center
for Teaching Excellence's International Teaching Assistant (ITAP) summer program.

UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA SCHOLARSHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS
The University attracts students nationally and internationally as well as
from within Georgia. It offers the state's broadest array of possibilities in
graduate and professional education, and thus a large minority of the
student body is post-baccalaureate. The Graduate School administers all graduate programs of
the University. It offers the Master of Arts in 35 disciplines, the Master of Science in 51 disciplines
and the Doctor of Philosophy in 79 disciplines. Professional master’s degrees are available in 32
areas, and professional doctoral degrees are offered in education, music, and public health. The
University also awards the Master of Education in 19 areas, the Specialist in Education in 19 areas
and the Doctor of Education in 12 areas.
Many degree programs within the University of Georgia offer scholarships & fellowships to students
seeking a major within their department. Information regarding these departmental awards may be

governmental agencies, private foundations, and corporations. Many extramural fellowships are

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE MIDDLE EASTERN AFFAIRS STUDY GRANTS
For more than 88 years, the I-House experience of international cultural
exchange in a diverse community has transformed the lives of more than
65,000 people. An independent, non-profit organization, International House
has enjoyed distinguished leadership since its inception. Past Chairmen of
the Board have included two former U.S. Presidents, three Secretaries of
State, and a former Chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve.
Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded, through the generous support of the Cleveland H. Dodge
Foundation, to 3-4 applicants from the Middle East or those from elsewhere who are studying
Middle Eastern Affairs. Recipients of this distinguished award will be expected to attend one special
event with trustees of the Dodge Foundation, to submit a written report each semester detailing
academic progress and involvement with the I-House community and to assist the Admissions
Office regarding recruitment ideas.

WIDENER UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW TO HOST VIRTUAL
INFORMATION SESSION
To provide interested students and applicants more information on our
available LL.M. programs, Widener University School of Law will be hosting a free virtual
information session broadcast live from the Delaware Campus on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at
9:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. To participate, please make sure that your computer has Adobe
Flash software installed prior to the webinar.
In addition to our longstanding programs in Health Law and Corporate Law, Widener Law is
offering a new General LLM program starting in fall 2013. The new program will offer several areas
of concentration, including Criminal Law, Environmental Law, and American Legal Studies. We also
are offering an exclusively online LLM in Delaware Corporate Law, starting in fall 2013.

OHIO UNIVERSITY OFFERS NEW JOURNALISM MINOR
Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism is proud to offer a
new Journalism Minor. The Journalism Minor offers students an overview
of the role of media in society and an understanding of basic theories and practices of
newsgathering and strategic communication. The minor helps students to communicate
information about their major disciplines to a wide audience across multiple media platforms.

5. SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY DEVELOPS SUMMER COURSES TO HELP
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ADJUST
A bridge program to acclimate international students to academic and cultural aspects of the
United States during the summer is in the works at Syracuse University.
The program would enable international transfer students and first-year international graduate
students to take two, three-credit courses prior to the start of the fall semester. Courses include
one class on library research skills and one class on global leadership, neither of which would
count toward a degree. Students would also be able to take summer courses offered through
individual colleges at SU.

CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY CELEBRATES DIVERSITY ON CAMPUS
The International Student Association is a group at Creighton University
devoted to celebrating and learning about the different cultures around
the world, especially those of Creighton’s student body.
The association has members from places as far away as China and
from as close as here in Omaha, Nebraska. According to Arts & Sciences sophomore Agrini
Boken, the International Student Association’s VP for Administrative Affairs, all International
students are automatically members and American students are also welcome to join. The club is
open to all students no matter what their heritage, and members share their cultures with each
other.
