Burundi
¼ ruminants are kept in extensive system
¾ are zero grazing system
People cultivate feed for their animal
Example: Brachiaria Ruzizians, Pennicetum spp, Calliandra spp, Setaria
spp, Mucuna, Lab-lab, Recena spp…

6. Birds and Rabbits
Before 2010 it was extensive systerm but now 100% of
rabbits and 80% of birds are in intensive system.

7. Contraints
Every feed/food industry work normaly in ourdays
But before there were constraints seach as insecurity,
extensive system animal keeping
There is a peace and security
Importation of animals for animal genetic improvement
New policy of rairing animal in intensive system
Presidencal strategies that encourage the leaders to
keep animal for increasing socio-economy of the
country.

8. Gaps
No research has been imprimented about quality
and production of Animal feeds.
There is a needs of farmers training workshop
On animal feeding
Low academic qualification

9. Reasons why is necessary to
invest in animal feeding
Nine months of raining period
There is high degree of animal importation;
Now Burundi is peaceful country;
Now Burundi is facitating good service to investors;
Now policy of chancing indigenous cattle into dairy
ones
Best land and their fertility
 new policy of keeping animal in Intensive system
There is availability of water (lacs, rivers, doms)
