- High mortality of pigs due to Classical Swine Fever (CSF) was causing huge economic losses in North East India due to inadequate veterinary services and vaccine supply. - Studies assessed the economic impact of CSF, tested samples for the virus, and evaluated vaccine production, storage, and effectiveness. Findings were documented in a research brief. - Stakeholder consultations and a policy roundtable led the Government of India to initiate a CSF control program and expand vaccine production. A pilot vaccination program in villages eliminated new CSF cases and the Government of Nagaland decided to expand it statewide.
