IT-Shape Conference

As a conclusion of the I-T Shape project we have organizeda public conference where associated with the
invited teachersandheadmastersfromthe HungarianVETschools,withITprofile weintroducedtheeffective
results and exam experiences, the exam possibilities for the future,so the EUCIP European Certification of
Informatics Professionals and its conditions furthermore the existing professional materials for study and
practicing test in Hungarian and English. The developer of the study, the CEPIS - Council of European
Professional Informatics Societies, and its owner the ECDL Foundation were introduce as well.
The EUCIP Core isthe basicqualificationof the EuropeanCertificationof InformaticsProfessionals.Itconsists
of a Core certificationaswellas21 Specialisedcertificationsforarange of competenceswhichare setoutin
an array of job-specific profiles. The EUCIP Core is the basis of the work areas connected to the IT topic,
focused of the IT demands of the enterprises. For achieving the certification we need 3 succesful modul
exams alternatively in Hungarianor English. The Hungarian Syllabus, practice test, the studymaterials, and
exemtestwere preparedinthe frame of the two-year-longI-TShape Leonardoprojectinthe co-operationof
the professional expertsand teachers of 10 institutes from 3 countries (Hungary, Italy and Ireland). During
the project 150 students, who are studying in the Hungarian IT area, got succesfull modul exam and
The aim of the projectwasthe achievementof the certificationwhichisacceptedinthe Europeancountries
in English or Hungarian language for the Hungarian students taking part in the IT studies completing their
knowledge in some topics.

preparationbeganinthe moodalsobecame betterbecause itrealizedthatthingswe wantfromthemis
not impossible,butmerelytothinkandtouse the knowledge acquired.There wasa time,when they
realizedatthe endof the lessonthatwe talkabouteverydaythings,whicheverydaycome across,but
neversaythe definitionbefore. Thiswasthe mostsuccesfull modul.
The teachersof the SZÁMALK-Szalézi HelénHegedüsandKatalinCséfalvaytalkedaboutthe Bulidmodule,
presentedfacts&figures,showspractical experiences.Thisareadealswiththe problemswhichkindof problems
can occure inthe enterprisesinthe outputphase andonwhichkindof pointof viewsshouldwe countwhen we
shoulddecide thatwhichismore profitable the software developmentafterowndemandsorif the company
takesone of thanfrom the market. Thismodule basicallyconsistsof alotof programmingknowledge whichis
veryinterestingforthe studentsonthe software developmentfaculty whogetalreadyinthe basicskill phase
deeperimpactaboutthistopic.Incase of systemadministratortrainingandCAD-CAMstudywe shouldpaymore
attentiononthismodule.
Erika Menyhártand ÁgnesKis devidedtheirexperiences achievedduringthe Operate module withthe audience
that the systemadministratortraining(OKJ) totallycoversthistopic.
Our students thought that they would successfully pass without preparation. However, the operation
systemshave alotof settingsandfunctionsthatthe studentswere inexperiencedwithbeforethe exam.This
part of the exam,therefore,requiresseriouspreparation.Thisfieldiscompletelycoveredbythe Hungarian
training(OKJ);however,the relatingmaterial hadtobe movedback.Therefore,thispartshouldnotpresent
graduate students with too much difficulty, but they have to familiarize themselves with the method of
testing. (type of questions)
Summary: Graduated IT administrators can successfully pass the exam with relativelylittle preparation. On
the otherhand,additionalmaterialfromtheteacherduringregularorextralessons,e-learningandindividual
practice are helpful.
IldikóBalassaandLajosPéterTóth talkedaboutexperiencesof the examsanddepictedhow the students
evaluatedthe training. A fewof the applicantremaineduncertainabouttheirlanguage choice.The rate of
those selectingthe Hungarianlanguageisveryhigh.The organisedpreparationisfoundverygood.A few
studentsusedthe online materials.Theirnumberwill probablyincrease whenmore jointhe examination
system.The learningmaterialsare sufficientlyup-to-date.The examinationconditionswere good.
We finisedthe conference withabuffet- lunchate togetherwhere there were choicesforopen-minded
questionsandpersonal conversationaswell.

Evaluation of Conference
Based on the replies there was great interesting
among the participants and more than 96% of the
answeringpersonsare interestedinaEUCIPSystem
inHungary inthe future.Theyaskedwhentheycan
start the programme and when the exams will be
accessable fortheirstudents. The participantswere
satisfied with the organisation of the conference,
also with the speeches and furthermore with the
information they achieved.

Objectives
Adaptation and localization of EUCIP Core in Hungary included its three Knowledge Areas (Plan, Build and
Operate)
Elaborate the detailed syllabuses and the Hungarian EUCIP Core Program
Validating the results: piloting the first module by involving Hungarianteachers, 50-60 participants from
vocational/university and adult educational institutes
Accrediting EUCIP Core under the Hungarian Program Accreditation System.
