- Magento right now is the most complete and capable ecommerce platform in the market. We have seen customers adopting Magento since the very inception of the platform. We have seen it evolving over the years and today I can confidently claim that Magento rates 10 out of 10 on all features you would expect from a platform used to build online stores.
- Businesses need several applications to run smoothly, like an ecommerce platform, a back-office ERP, a CRM solution, etc.. But in doing so, “one” organization becomes ”many” organizations in terms of the data going into them and the man power which is managing those systems / applications separately. This leads to disintegrated data, which in turn leads to redundancy and errors which is not good for any business. So, what is the solution?
- The solution is to connect all these applications so that it works as ONE! In the real-time fast paced world we are in, there is a need for every aspect of a business to be “connected” in order to grow. That’s where we come into picture! - Magento has built its architecture in such a way that every business object that you define inside your code can either exposed through Web interfaces or a Web API interface. . The framework that magento provides is effectively architected in such a way so that any external extension installed in top of the application get automatic benefit of its integration framework. The whole data structure is maintained in EAV models which can expose themselves to the external world easily. Magento supports both REST (Representational State Transfer) and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) based application integration. The Access layers of APIs available in Magento is properly architected such that it is consistent throughout the data endpoints irrespective of protocols used or authentication type provided
- Custom solutions require a lot of effort to accommodate minor changes which might get identified in future and changes will always come as you understand and watch your competitors grow. Platform upgradation will be a challenge. If the Magento version or other LOB application is upgraded, the custom solution provided would need a lot of rework to be done as they are not build in a modular fashion. Custom integration solutions are complex and expensive. Requires a longer time for implementation and in spite of all these chances of failure remain as they are not always build following the best practices. Time/market tested solutions evolve over a period of time as they are run through thousands of business scenarios in various client environments. Best practice is to use best of the breed solutions. This is the very reason people choose platforms like Magento and not some custom ecommerce platform!

With so many orders falling in daily a huge amount of manual effort had to be put just to maintain consistency in the data across the several applications they were using – Magento , SAP etc. Pricing of products change every day and they needed to be updated in Magento. Inventory value was changing every minute and needed to updated in Magento. Slightest of delay in order processing or delay in sharing update could result in a loss of reputation and decrease chance of future sells with that customer. APPSeCONNECT solved these challenges by enabling real-time exchange of all the data between Magento and SAP. Their order processing cycle itself became faster 60% contributing hugely to the increase level of customer satisfaction.
- RICHARDSON CAP APPSeCONNECT helped them streamline their business processes by enabling a connection between their SAP and Magento. Richardson cap had their Magento enabled with some extensive B2B features like : Separate accounts for Sales Reps, Dealer Accounts, Contact persons as well as standard end customers. They had different Pricelists or pricing rules set up for each dealer in their SAP ERP. Warehouse wise stock maintained in Magento updated in real time. Orders were to be placed with standard items as well as assemble-to-order items. Distributors/end users could put custom emblems on headwears using the online configurator. All the orders placed had to flow into SAP with the custom design. In case of items that were not in stock we had to sync the next arrival date from Available to Promise report of SAP. 7,500 active SKUs were required to be listed in Magento and kept updated with their style, color and size details.
