2. Theme 5.4.2. Evaluation of Service Concepts:
How to conduct an evaluation for a new or existing service
Making prototypes
Testing with prototypes
Development validation, finishing design
3. Prototyping, testing of functions and product design
Suupirssi – test environment
- Full-scale test environment of Fiat Ducato Max
- Real dental unit and sadle chairs for workers
- Usability tests, demonstration of nursing actions
- methods: empiric going through, thinking aloud and
observing
- All the main experts observed tests.
- Tests helped to improve the nursing environment:
- measurements for the functions, furnitures and
instruments
- With test environment was possible to finish the design and technical
solutiuons before outfit the real car
7. Finishing Design - Objectives
• User needs, user friendliness
• Working space
• Sanitation
• Preservation/storage system
• The large user group - challenge to the Design
8. Suupirssi 2010
The most important things raised up during the concept design phase:
- users welfare
- the functions inside the car
- the best car model (Fiat Ducato Maxi , height 4070mm, width 1870mm)
In user scenarios / emphatic design:
-designer found the “black spots”
9. In interior lay-out had to noticed:
-movements (staff 2-3 and patient)
- working space
These things were designed together with users
In concept design were tested:
- best places to the dental unit and treatment
- how the patient are moving inside the – so little movements as possible
- the patient door on back (with lift is necessary)
- the dental unit is possible to move back ad forth (different size of workers)
.
10. From the car perspective:
-the biggest storage must be in the front the car (gable wall) and middle of it
the biggest weight will be in the middle (horizontal) of the car, giving more
possibilities to design other functions and gives possibilities to put more storage
onto the wheel
- there must be enough space for workers at treatment area both sides must
be empty
- near the back door must be place for the jackets, shoes and place for the
patients escort
11. Empiric demonstration of nursing situation
Professionals were testing
Feed back to designers and techical development
Observing in-situ and by video
