Intros/ The Rules…
Todayis about creating something from nothing (UXD) and having fun
Todayis not about being big and corporate and scary – but hopefully taking some lessons from a small, simple exercise that can be applied to those big and corporate and scary projects we all work on.
How it works House Rules – you can’t say: “I’m not creative.” “I can’t draw.” “I’m not really an ideas person.” Swear words: Code, Database, Acronyms, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery (meet Mr swear jar) Good news: No budget restrictions, no project managers, absolutely NO Gantt Charts No bad ideas Quick intros: what’s your day job?
How it works…
Get into pairs (with somebody you  don’t know) Introduce yourself  Complete this sentence  (to your partner)… How it works
“I am really into … [something].” e.g. (five-year-old) trains, jaguars,  yellow things e.g. (two-year-old) cake, jumping
Congratulations! You are now creating your partner’s www.jaguars.com
“But I’m not really  into anything”  Congratulations! Your website is about: Nihilism.
Discovery (15 minutes … 7.5 each)
7.5 minutes each – Everything your audience  (e.g. your partner) wants, needs and expects to  find on or via: www.jaguars.com TIP 1: NOTES – Make lots and lots of notes. TIP 2: FOCUS – What are the most  important things? Discovery
After 15 minutes (7.5 each): Tear yourself away from your partner…
Create  (15 minutes)…
AT LEAST: Create Homepage A Site Map (so 90s) … Okay, some sort of plan/shape!  A Content Page Other stuff/Other ideas > It’s online … remember, www.jaguars.com doesn’t just exist in one place anymore… You can ask them questions … get up, talk to them.
Create
Present/Discuss…
Show & Tell (we’ll try and get through as  many as possible). Good ones. What was hard? What was easy? What would you do differently? Did you learn anything? Present/Discuss…
