Peatland conservation is the interest and task of many actors.
The participation of local communities, who live in and from
the ecosystem goods and services, is fundamental.
Private companies are key to enhance use of peatland
resources and connection to markets.
Research: peatlands mapping based on scientific and technical
information.

Sustainable use creates incentives for conservation
o ANDES: strengthening traditional sustainable strategies
that conserve and restore peatlands for the provision of
pasture, water and food.
o AMAZON: strengthening and supporting sustainable
chains of use of standing forest resources.
o OMEC: Conservation outside NPAs.
Public and private investments are key to support the
sustainable use of ecosystems, biodiversity and their
services.

Establecer definiciones es de suma importancia para la gestión pública, ello permite definir el ámbito de los instrumentos que desarrollaremos para atender estos importantes ecosistemas estratégicos.
Las Turberas al ser humedales, forman parte de nuestro para su conservación dentro y fuera de las áreas naturales protegidas, así como la puesta en valor de sus recursos. Esto nos ha llevado a iniciar un proceso para la identificación de nuestra turberas sobre la base de información científica y técnica.
Nuestras turberas se encuentran en al menos 14 de nuestras áreas naturales protegidas, cuya gestión está a cargo del Servicio Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas
