WHAT IS SPACE?
In astronomy and cosmology, space is the
vast 3-dimensional region that begins
where the earth's atmosphere ends.
Space is usually thought to begin at the
lowest altitude at which satellites can
maintain orbits for a reasonable time
without falling into the atmosphere.
What made us discover space?
Why we explore, why we wanted to discover the translunar space and why
we want to explore the asteroids, the Mars and the Moons. From the start
of the world people have gazed into the skies and have thought of the
beauties beyond their reach. There are many question asked about our
universe but the most important question is, how it all began?
Scientists, in their attempt to answer these and other confrontations, have
found one idea that seems to explain much of what we don't understand:
The Big Bang Theory.
An explosion of incomprehensible speed was the beginning of our known
Universe and existence.
So what is the reason?
Humanity's interest in the heavens has been universal and
enduring. Humans are driven to explore the unknown,
discover new worlds, push the boundaries of our scientific
and technical limits, and then push further. The intangible
desire to explore and challenge the boundaries of what we
know made us discover space
It is all curiosity.
Whereourimaginationends therethespacebegins.
Space is the Final
Frontier.
HOW WE DISCOVERED space?
We started the discovery of space through
telescopes first ever telescope was invented by
Hans Lippershey. Then scientists used telescopes
so they can observe the stars and planets. Then
with the passage of time scientists started to
use rockets or space shuttles so they can travel
to space and observe the planets by themselves.
The first human spaceflight took place on 12
April 1961, when cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made
one orbit around the Earth.

1957 Sputnik I (Russia), the first man-made satellite, was
launched to orbit around Earth.

the Earth.

Space technology is a technology related to
entering, retrieving objects or life forms from
space.
Space technology is used in several ways like:-

• Astronomy
• Earth Sciences via Remote Sensing, etc

NASA has designed a new Z-1
spacesuit, which was named one of
the year's best inventions by TIME
Magazine. The new suit, which
bears a Buzz Lightyears-esque
appearance with its green accents,
boasts superior mobilityover the old
suits, a large entrance port for easy
donning, and increased radiation
protection to allow for longer
spacewalks.
On May 25, SpaceX became the
first private company to dock a
spacecraft at the International
Space Station with its Falcon 9
rocket and Dragon spacecraft. On
December 17, the company
delivered its encore with a
successful test of its Grasshopper
reusable rocket, in which the
rocket hovered at an altitude of
over 130 feet before landing
safely.
Space Adventures, Ltd., has
arguably been the most prolific
global supplier of civilian space
tourism. Virgin Group, operating
from New Mexico's Spaceport
America launch site, seeks to
eradicate the exclusivity of this
venture. In 2004, the company
completed the first privately-
funded human spaceflight with its
SpaceShipOne vehicle, wherein its
pilot and only passenger. There next
project SpaceShipTwo vehicle.
While NASA's Mars Science
Laboratory, a.k.a. Curiosity
rover, has taken front stage in
recent months, a project that
remains in development is the
Mars Atmosphere and Volatile
Evolution (MAVEN) probe, an
unmanned spacecraft that will
be used to sample Mars'
environment. The probe is
scheduled for launch in
November 2013 and is expected
to reach Mars in 2014.
