Having Isabel introduce her concept of collaboration
in our Digital Workplace workshop was enlightening.
Her insights and examples from other companies
helped us open our minds and realise where we are
and what could be the Baloise way of collaboration
in the future. It helped me finding a focus on how to
establish the idea of collaborating in a new way
inside my company.

2. Do these quotes sound familiar?
“Who could be interested in what I post?”
“Maybe the others will think I am showing off.”
“What I share will be used against me.”
“How to make sure people react to my posts?”
“This takes time! What is the ROI?”

3. I am a strong believer of the power of online knowledge sharing.
Because it helps people
to raise their voice;
to be more conscious about their knowledge;
to build up strong networks that make them less vulnerable in the digital age.
Because it helps managers
to build trust & proximity;
to really listen to their employees;
to be a servant & authentic leader.
Because it helps organisations
to be more agile;
to increase employee engagement;
to be more innovative.

4. So I decided to develop a learning track that
would help people & organisations to share
their knowledge online.

5. The objectives of the track?
participants will be at ease participating in online knowledge
flows;
they will have built up networks;
they will have developed a clear online identity;
the network trusts the participants and takes the time to engage,
to react, to give feedback.

6. I called the track
connect|share|lead
Just like the subtitle of my book
Social Technologies in Business.
7. 1. Necessary ressources.
2.
“The learning track
connect|share|lead is an
absolute must in our digital
age.
It paves the way towards
Network Leadership.”

Network Leadership.
Paul Verschueren - Federgon
Thanks to this track I am more conscious
and act with more self-confidence on
social media.
I have a much clearer picture of my
online identity. I know how I want my
voice to be heard on social media.

10. Tip number 1
What do you want to achieve?
Start with the end in mind
connect|share|lead
www.connectsharelead.com
11. What other people have in mind
learning more about well defined topics;
being a great ambassador of their brand sharing their knowledge,
beliefs and failures in a genuine and authentic way;
connecting with and engaging with stakeholders;
building up strong networks with people they can ask feedback
from;
championing a certain cause;
making sure their expertise is known by their customers;
connecting with their employees;
breaking down silo’s in their organisation

13. Tip number 2
Tune in and listen carefully
Tuning in and reading what is passing by is already a
great way to be present online.
It’s what we call the first C in our 3C model:
to consume.

14.
15. Tip number 3
Build a healty feed
You are responsible for what you consume. This applies
to food and to information.

16. Building up a healthy diet is only possible if your end goal is crystal
clear.
Ask yourself the following questions:
Is it clear to me who / which organisations I have to follow to realise my
objectives?
Is it clear to me about which topics I would like to learn more?
Am I honest with myself? Am I ready to unfollow people when their posts are
not adding value anymore?

Tip number 4
Online leadership is not about shouting
A beautiful way to be present online is by
contributing. Our second C.
1. You react to other people’s post.
2. You share other people’s posts by adding a
“layer” of information above it.
connect|share|lead
www.connectsharelead.com
18. How can you contribute?
How can you add this layer of information?
summarize the post;
explain why the post helps you with your
work;
quote the most important sentence;
link it with similar / opposite thinkers and
articles;
…

Tip number 5
Show up as a vulnerable person
Don’t be the “know-it-all” guy.
1. Share your thinking process by sharing work in
process, feedback you got, ideas that did not
make it…
2. Ask open questions.
3. Take your time to react in a genuine way to the
network’s feedback.
4. Say thank you.
5. Be honest when you say thank you.

21. To end: 3 more tips from Blake
Cai, the Learning & Leadership
Development Director in China
for Robert Bosch
1. Start sharing with your trusted
circle, feel free not to share with
everybody if this scares you.
2. Share what you feel most
comfortable with. Maybe sharing
personal things scares you. Then start
sharing for example some of your
learnings.
3. Share in whatever format suits you
best. Some prefer text. Other video or
visuals. And that’s all OK.

Natuurlijke manier van organiseren – tegen het organogram
TUSSENSCHOTJES ZIJN NIET NATUURLIJK
Nieuw? 2012
WAAROM?

BINNEN = digitale werkplek
BUITEN = social media Twitter – LinkedIn
minder kwetsbaar – snellere toegang tot kennis
