2. What to expect
RVAbc is hosting its Annual Summit - the preeminent blockchain event in the central
Virginia region. This year’s program will expand its scope beyond cryptocurrency and will
look into emerging blockchain technology applications, global challenges, innovation
and opportunities in the broader blockchain sector. It will continue to focus on
government policy, investment insight, and technological development in this evolving
space. The agenda is developed in consultation with leading blockchain, technology, and
industry leadership.
It will attract over 125 attendees from public organizations, civil societies, research
institutes, the private sector and media. Decision makers-and directors of operations,
logistics, investment, innovation officers and IT as well as experts in finance, technology,
logistics, and law will benefit from this multi-stream event.

3. Why 2019?
According to a recent Deloitte survey 53% of businesses leadership opine that blockchain
technology has become a critical priority for their organizations in 2019. Additionally,
86% believe that blockchain technology is broadly scalable and will eventually achieve
mainstream adoption.
Furthermore, with the number of connected devices predicted to top 26 billion during
2019, vast amounts of machine-to-machine communication will be taking place, at far
too high a speed for humans to keep up manually. Experts predict that blockchains will
increasingly be used to log and monitor these communications and transactions and
2019 will see an explosion in its use.
