The document discusses technologies used to construct a media product. It describes both hardware, like an iMac computer, keyboard, mouse, servers, and photography equipment. It also discusses software used, including the operating system, search engines like Google, Photoshop for editing photos, Word for writing articles, and InDesign for laying out pages of the media product. The student learned various tools in Photoshop for editing images and how to layout columns of text in InDesign.
3. Apple iMac
This is the hardware that
definitely helped me with
everything since without it
(and the OS) I wouldn’t be
able to use any of my software
products.
4. Apple
keyboard and
mouse
Without these (and of course
‘others’) I wouldn’t be able to
create my product and, not
only that, I would find it
impossible to log into my
account.
5. An example of how I have
been able to use the keyboard
and mouse as a way to help
me construct my product is by
using ‘alt shift 4’ and this
allowed me to create a
screenshot of the whatever I
wanted to (more example of
how the keyboard and mouse
was useful later on), this
helped me at the planning
stage of the three parts of the
practical (cover page,
contents page, double article
page).
7. Photography Equipment
Horseshoeflashtrigger
Camera
Hemisphere 300 – Strobe flashThe camera shutter speed is set so it
can match the strobe light. When the
button is pressed to take the photo the
horseshoe flash trigger will send an
infra red signal to the strobe flash this
will ensure that the strobe flash went
off when the photo is taken.
8. Photography Equipment cont.
Soft Boxes
The strobe lights may ensure a nice bright image
but the soft boxes makes sure that there is light
around the models at all time, since if a photograph
is taken with only the strobe lights the models will
only have lighting on one side of their bodies.
This is a photograph of Jack without the strobe lights and just the
soft boxes (with a black backdrop), this shows one of the many
creative photo shots one can create with just soft boxes (just strobe
lights can also create a creative shot, but I don’t have any). I have
tried to make it look like as if he is in a live show performing one of
his song.
9. SD Card
This was in the camera
whenever I had to take a
photo so I can relocate the
photographs onto my account
for me to edit it, with a
software, and apply it onto my
media product.
11. Operating System
The operating system is needed in order to do
ANYTHING.
In order to access other software products (such as
photoshop) or even log in through the server, an operatig
system is need.
Simply, it is more impossible to achieve anything without
an operating system than is is without a keyboard and
mouse (or a monitor, the internet and anything else).
(Something that would make it more impossible is if I did not have a Mac computer)
12. Search
Engines
The three search engines I
have used was Google,
Firefox and Safari. Along side
with my teachers, the search
engines helped me with
understanding different forms
and conventions to include
within my media product.
13. Photoshop
This was a software that
allowed me to create a
majority of my media product
through different tools which
allowed me to ‘improve’ the
looks of my models and to
create graphic designs which
helped highlight some
features of the magazine.
14. What Photoshop
taught me.
It has taught me a lot of different tools
to create my media product (magazine
for me specifically). For example, it
taught me how to make people look
‘better’ or at least ‘improve’ it, an
example of such tool is the spot
remover.

15. Cont.
Grouping different layers in
Photoshop allows me to easily
apply an effect to them without
having to do it on different
layers one at a time; I have
used this on the light bulb sign
that I have used on my article
page.
16. Cont.
Depending on what I am trying
to do, this is a way I can make
someone look tan so it can
match it’s background.
17. Word
This helped me construct my article
as it was the software which I wrote
drafts of the article on.
18. InDesign
InDesign was the software that
I used when creating my
double paged article. It was the
software which I wrote (copied
and pasted) my article from
word.
I have learnt how to create
columns and position them in a
way that would make suit the
design of the article page, and
‘Placeholder text’ (dummy text)
helped me with this since it
showed me how the whole
thing would look if the article is
placed.
