3. IVICA SOLOMUN
UEFA PRO LICENCED FOOTBAL COACH
Dear Sirs,
In consideration of my professional player and coaching experience, I feel I am able and qualified to send you this
application for the position.
My knowledge and skills have developed whilst working within specific aspects of football in my region, they
include the following:
1. Knowing the football history in Pula and region
2. Knowing the mentality of the citizens of Pula and the region
3. Analysis of the initial conditions ( of the team and the club)
4. Creating the strategy of the club's development
5. Short-term, medium-term and long-term planning and programming of team work
6. Work methodology and organization
7. Methods of work
8. Training and the control of the training process
All of the above are assumptions, which in my opinion, should be considered in order to achieve succesfull results.
The head coach should work on further development strategy in cooperation with other professionals within the
Club.
In terms of my specialities and my football decisions, I am convinced that young players should have opportunity
to be intoduced in the senior football as soon as possible, in accordance with their possibilities and strategy of the
Club..
It also creates conditions for the sustainability of the club. As the head of one of the most famous football schools
- NK Varteks, I have achieved good results via the the implementation of that strategy. I have introduced some of
the players to the professional game at the age of 17-18. They progressed better among older players and today
they successfully compete in their clubs:
Marko Rog ( FC Napoli), Leon Benko ( FC Olimpija Ljubljana ) , Dario Melnjak (FC Neftci Baku), Lovro Cvek ( FC
Aluminij) , Dino Škvorc (FC Universitatea Cluj) , Igor Prahić ( FC Naft Teheran) , Dario Jertec (FC Varaždin), Aleks
Pihler ( FC Maribor) , Roberto Punčec (FC Union Berlin) , Petar Brlek ( FC Wisla Krakow), Nikola Tkalčić (IFK
Norrkoping), Denis Glavina (FC Tobol Kostanay), Dominik Glavina (FC Rudar Velenje), Mario Šitum ( FC Dinamo
Zagreb)
I find that exchange of knowledge and experience are necessary preconditions to development successful trends
in football, from the very beginning of my coaching career I have developed good relationships and cooperation
with fellow coaches. Some of them, which I very much appreciate and with whom the relationship is more
intense, are my former colleague and coach Zlatko Dalić ( FC Al Ain, UAE) , Branko Ivanković ( FC Persopolis) ,
Dražen Besek ( FC BIrkirkara), Samir Toplak ( NK Inter Zapresic), Damir Krznar ( FC Al Nasser), Krunoslav Jurcic (FC
Adana Spor) i Marijan Mrmic ( FC Besiktas).
