2. Research question Will the Interactive Workbook application for Mathematics 2 improve the efficiency of students’ learning? Research method Literature review Prototyping Questionnaires
3. ActionScript 3.0 => Objective-C => jQuery Mobile The Development Process Literature research and own experiences as basis for the application’s functionalities Application based on one mathematical problem for prototyping purposes Given the right resources development time could be reduced significantly
Methodology:The collection and analysis methods used in this research paper were literature review and descriptive research, including prototyping and conducting questionnaires. The literature review revealed the general idea of the problem. It included a review of literature form scientific and scholarly journals on the topic of eLearning, Web-based problem solving, Web-based Homework, Factors influencing students’ effectiveness in learning science just to name the most important ones. With the descriptive research the subjects to be included in the research were identified and their unique characteristic traits were described. A cross- sectional study was conducted to describe students’ perception of the usefulness of the Interactive Workbook Application for Mathematics 2 course, as well as thier willingness to use the tool.Data collection consisted of personal interviews in the forms of questionnaires designed by the researchers (please refer to object # from the appendix). The questionnaires included 16 questions arranged in a logical order. Basic information questions established the basic students’ perception of the usefulness of the Interactive Workbook Application for Mathematics 2 course, as well as their willingness to use the tool. The questionnaire consisted of, closed-ended likert scale and multiple category, as well as, open- ended questions. From February 21, 2011 to February 25, 2011 the groups of interviewers did # interviews on the UvT’s campus area. The respondents were randomly met and asked to complete the research questionnaire. Before completing the interview, the respondents were presented with the Interactive Workbook Application. They were explained what is the application about and they were given the opportunity to test the prototype of the application for iPad. Based on their experience from the trial of the iPad application the interviewees were given an electronic version of the questionnaire to complete using the iPads.
Balloons from top to bottom:1: Deciding which programming language to develop in: ActionScript 3.0 easiest for Davey, Objective-C because iPad doesn’t support aforementioned, jQuery Mobile framework since we had to pay for Apple native language2: Explain the application’s functionalities at this point maybe?3: Explain the scope of our project, just a prototype4: Since we aren’t experts on both the programming language used and the content of the course, it would take experts a lot less time to develop
