Latin America: strategic area
An international outlook and a desire to stand shoulder to
shoulder with our clients are Garrigues’ hallmarks.This is
why it is looking to become the firm of choice in Latin
America too, where it has been present, in one shape or
form, for over four decades. Latin America represents a
natural, strategic region for a fundamental part of
Garrigues’clients operating there.In 2013,more than 25%
of Garrigues’ clients had a presence in the Americas.The
firm also advises Latin American clients on a recurring basis
as they expand through Europe.
In view of all the above, in 2013 Garrigues focused
strategically on the region; with an office in Brazil since
2011, the firm decided to grow its Latin American legal
practice by rolling out a network of own offices providing
local law services in the most important countries in the
region.
The first phase of the expansion consisted in the opening
of new offices in Bogota (Colombia), Mexico D.F.
(Mexico) and Lima (Perú)
The Firm’s expansion is all set to be rounded out with
the unveiling of new offices in other countries in the area,
of particular interest to Garrigues and its clients.

The team: managing
Latin American talent
The lawyers forming part of our Latin American venture
are familiar with Garrigues’ culture and the firm’s focus
on client service. Over 50 professionals from the region
have previously worked at Garrigues in Spain following
the end of their postgraduate studies at prestigious
schools in Madrid and Barcelona. Many of them have
also studied postgraduate programs at Garrigues'
Centro de Estudios or benefited from grants and
summer work experience organized by Garrigues
pursuant to institutional agreements.

Operating out of Bogota, and thanks to a pro-fessional team
of specialists, the firm offers tax and legal advice on all areas

The Bogota team is composed of a solid 20-strong group of
