Got anger issues?
The Anger Management Workshop is every Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. (next
workshop Aug. 21) on the Henderson Hall side of the Joint Base, Building 12 in the
conference room.

‘Ruach Warrior’ bible study every Wednesday
The “Ruach Warrior” (Ruach is a Hebrew word meaning spirit of God) is a weekly,
non-denominational bible study. Held each Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to noon in the
chapel, Building 29, first floor, on the Henderson Hall side of the joint base, the next
gathering is Wednesday, Aug. 21. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to
participate for lively discussion.

Women’s Equality Day to feature 5K run/walk
Women’s Equality Day will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 23 starting out from the
Fitness Center, Building 414 on the Fort Myer side of the joint base. The theme is
“Celebrating Women’s Right to Vote.”
Prizes will be awarded to first place runners and walkers and for the unit with the
most participation. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registered personnel.
Refreshments will be provided. This is free and open to all military personnel, civilian
employees, Family members and retirees. Register at www.jbmhhmwr.com or on the
day of the event between 5:15 and 6:15 a.m. at the Fitness Center.

Civilian employee needs annual leave assist
A Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security employee, Shari Dixon,
who works on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base, is an approved recipient of the
civilian personnel annual leave donor program. Due to medical issues, she has
exhausted both sick and annual leave.
Department of the Army civilian employees who would like to donate annual leave
to Dixon must fill out Form OPM 630A, "Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave
Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (Within Agency)" at
www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630a.pdf.
If you are a federal government civilian employee outside the Department of the
Army and want to donate annual leave to Dixon, you must complete OPM 630B,
"Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave
Transfer Program (Outside Agency)" at www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630b.pdf

New -- Aquatics training for Marines
Marine Corps Community Services’ Semper Fit offers AMP-IT (Aquatics Maximum
Power Intense Training) for active duty and reserve Marines only.
Sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m., in the Maj. Douglas A. Zembiec Pool, Henderson Hall side of the joint base.
Sessions meet tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 20.

New -- VA claims assistance available
If you are thinking of filing a claim with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the
3. National Service Officer from American Veterans can assist you. The representative will
be in Building 29 in the Career Resource Management Center on the Henderson Hall
side of the joint base on the second and fourth Thursday of each month (Next meeting
is Aug. 22). For assistance, bring your service medical records, private physician’s
records, DD Form 214, marriage certificate, children’s birth certificates and copies of
your dependents’ social security cards. The National Service Officer will consult with
you about the condition for which you are considering filing a claim.

New -- Financial management assistance available
The Marine Corps Community Services Personal Financial Management Program
assists with everything from budgeting to investing. A workshop will be held
Thursday, Aug. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Building 29 on the Henderson Hall side
of the joint base.

New -- Marine Club service changes in August
The Marine Club on the Henderson Hall side of the joint base will have limited
service in August. On Mondays, the club will offer menu service only (no buffet);
Wednesday, Aug. 21, the club will service a “breakfast for lunch” buffet for $9.75;
Friday, Aug. 23, the club will not serve lunch, but the club opens at 4:30 p.m. for bar
service; Wednesday, Aug. 28, the club will offer menu service only (no buffet); and
Friday, Aug. 30, the club is closed for lunch. The Java Café, located in the Marine Corps
Exchange, is open for lunch every day and also open to everyone.

New -- Gates, barrier maintenance time
The periodic preventive maintenance work will be done on Joint Base Myer-
Henderson Hall gate bollards and pop-up barriers Wednesday, Thursday and Friday,
Sept. 4, 5 and 6 according to the following schedule:

Wednesday, Sept. 4, morning -- Henry Gate, afternoon - Gates 1 and 3, Henderson Hall
side of JBM-HH | Thursday, Sept 5, morning - Wright Gate, afternoon - Hatfield Gate
| Friday, Sept. 6, morning - Ceremonial Gate on the Fort McNair side of JBM-HH,
afternoon - 2nd Street Gate.
4. Traffic disruption will be minimal during the work, but use caution when traveling
through the gates during this time. Expect to hear testing of a speaker system at the
same time.

Family Readiness
Stress Management (introductory for adults)
Participants will complete a stress profile and receive information on the impact that
unmanaged stress has on their life, review options for managing stress and get
materials to assist them in developing their own unique stress management plan. Class
will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. in Building 201 on the Fort Myer
side of the joint base.

Baby Bundles
Join us Thursday, Aug. 22 from noon to 2 p.m. for “Baby Bundles,” our next class for
couples or individuals expecting a child or with an infant under one year old. Class will
be in Building 201 on the Fort Myer side of the joint base. Participants will get
information on the labor and delivery process, newborn and mother care, home - infant
safety, and discuss strategies for navigating the change in relationship dynamics when a
child arrives. Each participant will receive a bag containing parenting resources, baby

New -- EFMP teams talks about respite reimbursement use, changes
There will be a briefing on Exceptional Family Member Program respite care
reimbursement program use and changes which will take effect Oct. 1, 2013 from noon
to 1 p.m. in Building 12’s conference room (Henderson Hall side of the joint base)
Thursday, Aug. 22. This briefing outlines the background, use, requirements, level of
need and changes to the respite care policy. The brief is available one-on-one and via
WebEx by request.

New -- Baby boot camp offers support to new parents
The New Parent Support Program holds Baby Boot Camp Friday Aug. 23 from 8:30
a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Building 12 on the Henderson Hall side of the joint base, in the
conference room.
Expectant and new parents learn the basics of baby care and how to enjoy their new
role as parents. Participants get free lunch!

5. Anger Management
An Anger Management (Introductory level presentation for adults) class is
Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the ACS classroom, Building 201, on the Fort
Myer side of the joint base. Pre-registration requested. Get information on the basic
principles of emotions management, specific information about the impact of
unmanaged anger and get resources on how to recognize and manage the anger
triggers in your own life.

“Smooth Move” is an informal joint service brief for service members planning to
PCS, and will be held Thursday, Aug. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. Learn about your new duty

Transportation Office, Sponsorship, housing and more in Building 12 on the Henderson
Hall side of the joint base.
