potential issues in gathering and
retrieving these data to validate

we capture the processes and the
associated metadata?”
“Covid-19 has highlighted issues around
reliance on being present in the lab. Are there
ways to use new technology to automate
processes and operate remotely? There are
already examples of where this is happening”
“…across the breadth of the institution,
there are people in every discipline
wondering how they can make use of new
tech. Understanding potential is a barrier
and this makes it difficult to get over the
first hurdle. .”

7. Where is Jisc best placed to support research?
Our engagement with the sector has identified 7 emerging
themes for Jisc to mobilise around:
• Supporting a new national data infrastructure for research
• Recording the UK’s ‘research estate’ in support of a UK wide
distributed research capability
• Research information and analytics - understanding systems,
resources and decision-making
• Rapid innovation in research integrity and ethics, knowledge
exchange and impact

8. Where is Jisc best placed to support research?
Our engagement with the sector has identified 7 emerging
themes for Jisc to mobilise around:
• Discovery and applied research; supporting its commercialisation
and deployment
• Accelerating the achievement, delivery and monitoring of the journey
to open access and open research
• Research 4.0 and realising the ‘art of the possible’
