This workshop explored a self-assessment tool for Recording And Planning for Technology in Action, called RAPTA. There was an opportunity to explore the potential of the tool, and find out how it links to your organisational Self Assessment Reporting (SAR) processes, Quality Improvement Plan and the Ofsted Common Inspection Framework (CIF). There were also activities using the tool to encourage self assessment of effective use of technology and sharing of good practice with technology.

14. QUESTION C9
To what extent are staff effective in their use
of technology in teaching, learning
assessment?
June 27, 2013 | slide 14
15. Illustrations for C9
Electronic individual learning plans (E-ILPS) are used to
share disclosed learner information with teaching staff
involved in the learners’ course or programme
Teaching staff arrange to teach and support learners on-
line as part of their course or learning programme
Hand-held and mobile technologies are supplied to
teaching staff to support the delivery and administration of
learning
Staff are encouraged and supported to seek out
communities of interest beyond the organisation

16. Illustrations for C9
Teaching staff’s confidence to experiment with technology
is positively encouraged and there is a good awareness of
their support needs in terms of the hardware and technical
support
Learners are able to submit assignments on-line in a
variety of ways
Back up paper-based processes are being reduced so
technology replaces rather than adds to administrative
processes
Appropriate and effective use of technology is included in
lesson observations, review and feedback
Staff support learning and its administration through social
media

17. Questions 10, 11
How effectively is technology used to contribute to
the process of providing accurate, timely and
useful information, advice and guidance
How does technology help with the take-up of
support and the monitoring of the progress of
learners receiving support?
June 27, 2013 | slide 17
18. How technology can help
Initial assessment software helps to identify
particular learner need and support
Social media such as Facebook is utilised to
provide informal self-help groups
E-ILPs assist in monitoring the progress of the
learners receiving the support so that all staff with
a role in every learner’s progression are able to
see and contribute
Learners are enrolled into specialist support areas
on the VLE or similar learning environment
June 27, 2013 | slide 18
19. How technology can help
Both teaching staff and the learner are able to
contribute to the ILP by way of comment and
target setting
Electronic registers help teaching staff to monitor
the take-up of support
Social media is used to allow an immediate
reporting process, in confidence, where help is
required to which at least two members of staff
have access

20. Question 15

delivery of English, Maths and Functional Skills in
order to meet individual needs
