2. INTRODUCTION TO MY COURSEWORK
• My A2 coursework wanted me to create a regional newspaper that
gave information on a major news story. As well as this, I had to
create a radio podcast that advertised my newspaper article which
has to last around 30 seconds to meet the stereotypical radio advert.
Moreover, I also had to create a billboard that could be placed in my
region and appeal to my target audience. The billboard had to state
the newspapers date of release and also a catchy slogan to attract
my target audience. Because my newspaper is a regional
newspaper and focuses mostly on politics, I researched the codes
and conventions of a regional newspaper and included them in my
research and planning. Furthermore, I also researched the unique
selling point of my product and found that it was mostly local stories
that were included and really effected the region e.g. accident on the
M25.

least get it controlled. Notice how it is appealing to the general

5. THE BILLBOARD
• Once I had commenced my research into the billboard I would have to
create. I found out that the main objective of the billboard was to get
their target audience to stop what they were doing and look at the
billboard. To comply with the codes and conventions of the billboard, I
realized that I would have to use bright colours to catch the attention of
my target audience. With this research I created my billboard with blue
and red to represent the main competing political parties. Furthermore, I
also realized that the billboards that I looked at had bold writing with a
slogan. To follow the code and conventions, I added my own slogan
named “judgment day”. This gave my target audience something to
think about when they noticed my ad on the billboard; with the slogan
on the billboard forcing its way into their minds, it also makes the public
think of my newspaper when they hear or tell that slogan to another
person. I believe that the combination of my main article and my
billboard as the billboard signifies the importance of the topic as well as
hints out what the article is going to be about.
6. THE NEWS PODCAST
• After researching a great deal on radio adverts, I found that the major
codes and conventions of the radio advert is that it has to be a catchy
and enthusiastic so that the advert makes people want to listen. Within
the radio advert I included a unique selling point which was that I had
simplified politics for the masses and that anyone of any educational
level would be able to understand what is going on. This then links my
newspaper article to everyone in the region and not just to upper class
business men or women. This is the unique selling point because this
newspaper article and paper is meant for the masses of the region. My
Radio advert went well with my billboard and main article because the
billboard makes the audience think about what they want for the country
and the radio podcast exaggerates the simplicity of the article making
young people or anyone who is not very good with politics and comes
to terms about what is going on in the country. This is not just a benefit
for the people but beneficial on a educational scale as it means people
will understand what is going on with the right facts and figures.

The advert here exaggerates the fact that you need to
get some nuts. Although this is irrelevant, the
message is coming across that only strong and
powerful people eat this chocolate bar meaning that
the audience wants one to feel like Mr. T
As well as the
nuts, Mr T’s
voice is very
aggressive

he is trying to

trick.
Although he
exaggerates his
voice a lot, he

make it very

8. MY RADIO ADVERT
• Overall, I think that my radio advert has met the codes and
conventions of a stereotypical radio advert as it includes all
the right soundtracks and voice lines. One convention and
convention I did challenge however was that I used a males
voice and not a women's which is stereotypically the case.
Now that all of my ancillary tasks and the main production is
complete, I think it makes a excellent combo and makes a
excellence piece of propaganda. However I do believe there
are still some rough edges in the main production itself but I
simply do not have the time to tweak these. Furthermore, I
have learnt a lot on the genre of newspaper that I stuck to
which is a
