EXPRESS BITE WILL ACTIVATE AND ENGAGE WITH THE PEOPLE
OF OUR COMMUNITY ON FOOD RELATED ISSUES
Express Bite has been dedicated to promoting healthy eating through the Champions of Healthy Food Access program.
The cornerstone of the program is an active effort to ensure healthy food is accessible equitably to all people of all income
levels, at all times.
A e isi g a a e ess le el i Food Dese ts has spa ked effo ts a oss the Cou t to adopt a d adapt the Mo ile
Ma ket odel as a ea s fo add essi g the i e uities of the A e i a food s ste , edu ate the pu li a d ake f esh,
healthy food choices easily accessible by those who need it the most.
Express Bite believes that positive, consistent, and clear messages delivered through an integrated framework of programs,
marketing, education and food environment changes is needed to change consumer behavior over the long-term. The brand
is passionate, vital, optimistic and relevant. Express Bite will be a straight-talking partner to consumers and an influence in
guiding them to make positive behavioral changes. The brand is empathetic and supportive.
There is substantial support for the claim that when low-income, food-insecure consumers have access to healthy,
affordable, local foods-in conjunction with resources for acquiring federal food assistance, nutritional information,
education and awareness including cost-effective recipes and food demonstrations- they are more likely to consume those
foods and establish or change to healthy and sustainable eating habits.
Express Bite is positioning fruit and vegetables as a key component of meals and snacks that promote health. While
awareness has increased among consumers over the last 20 years, their behavior is not consistent with meeting daily
recommendations. A recent survey conducted in Los Angeles shows that only 1 in 5 consumers are actually eating 5 or more
servings of fruit and vegetables per day.
Express Bite is an active partnership with government, non-profit, business and community organizations working together
to create an environment where residents of Los Angeles Metropolitan area can include fruit and vegetables at every eating
occasion, making healthy choices the easy choice.
HEALTH & SUSTAINABILITY STANDARDS
Without our health, without our planet – we have nothing. Its se ious usi ess a d e’ e i the usi ess of aki g it

Express Bite will target distribution of a culturally-diverse menu of locally-sourced produce and E press Bite Fresh-On-The-
Go read -to-eat food options to the more than 1.75 Million Los Angeles food insecure.
Express Bite ensures healthy food is accessible equitably to all people of all income levels at all times. Express Bite will
prioritize the health and wellbeing of Los Angeles Metropolitan area residents placing particular attention on programs that
serve food insecure children, seniors and low-income adults. We will also connect families to resources they need to provide
their children with enough nutritious food, every day, to thrive.
The waste of edible food by consumers, retailers, and manufacturers poses a significant burden to the food system.
Wasted food costs consumers and industry money; squanders important natural resources that are used to grow, process,
distribute , and store the food supply; and represent a missed opportunity to feed the food insecure individuals that are
struggling to access healthy, affordable food.
Misinterpretation of the date labels on foods is a key factor leading to waste.
Addressing food waste is an important part of creating a truly sustainable good food system. By reducing food waste, we
can conserve natural resources, reduce the burden on landfills, and generate valuable compost.
Furthermore, redirecting surplus food can help feed thousands of hungry people in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area!
