Domain-Driven Design (DDD) is an architectural approach that strongly focuses on materializing the business domain in enterprise software through disciplined object-oriented analysis. This session demonstrates first-hand how DDD can be elegantly implemented using Jakarta EE via an open source project named Cargo Tracker. Cargo Tracker maps DDD concepts like entities, value objects, aggregates and repositories to Jakarta EE code examples in a realistic application. We will also see how DDD concepts like the bounded context are invaluable to designing pragmatic microservices.

Nowadays traditional layered monolithic architecture in Java world is not so popular as 5-10 years ago. I remember how we wrote tons of code for each layer repeating almost the same parts for every application. Add unit and integration testing to understand how much time and efforts has been spent on repeatable work. All cool ideas around DDD (domain driven design) and Hexagonal Architecture was just a nice theory because reality hasn’t allow us to implement it easily. Even Dependency Injection with Spring framework was completely focused on traditional layered approach, not even talking about JavaEE platform. Today we have Spring Boot ecosystem covering most of our needs for integration with almost all possible technologies and microservices architectural trend, enabling completely new approach to build Java applications around domain model. It is so natural to build Java domain-oriented services and connect them with external world using ports and adapters, that Hexagonal Architecture is almost enabled by default. Your application sends some of them to a database, or a message queue. What is the ideal infrastructure for an application to support this on-going stream of messages? The most notable impact of using SW in the automotive domain is the decrease in fatalities as ADAS functions are more widely employed. On the other hand, SW complexity has seen an almost exponential growth reaching about 100 million lines of code. Hardly any organization can tackle this challenge alone. The Eclipse Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Working Group ’s mission is to foster collaboration across industries to create an open technology platform for the software defined vehicle of the future. The working group community driven by its 40 member organization has chosen a “code first” approach to facilitate more agile and faster time-to-market software development. After its formation about a year ago, the SDV WG has onboarded about 20 open source projects and is working on integrating several projects together to create “blueprints”. The frameworks emerging from these initial blueprints show the potential and benefits of utilizing different projects as components to build broader solutions to address more complex problems This contribution introduces the SDV WG and Community, as well as its projects and capabilities.

**Jakarta EE 9** changed its package namespace from `javax.*` to `jakarta.*`. This may sound like a trivial change that mostly affects Jakarta EE. So, why should Spring developers care? As it turns out, the namespace changes ripple throughout the entire Java ecosystem. And Spring is no exception. Spring Framework 6 and Spring Boot 3 raise their baseline to Jakarta EE 9 API level which is supported by Tomcat 10 and Jetty 11 for example. The talk will describe how provenance, open governance and vendor neutrality can become excellent complements to Open Source in order to address some of the challenges associated to the increasing complexity of the environment in which Open Source communities and ecosystems operate today. Tracing the root cause of a performance issue requires a lot of patience, experience, and focus. It’s so hard that we sometimes attempt to guess by trying out tentative fixes, but that usually results in frustration, messy code, and a considerable waste of time and money. This talk explains how to correctly zoom in on a performance bottleneck using three levels of profiling: distributed tracing, metrics, and method profiling. After we learn to read the JVM profiler output as a flame graph, we explore a series of bottlenecks typical for backend systems, like connection/thread pool starvation, invisible aspects, blocking code, hot CPU methods, lock contention, and Virtual Thread pinning, and we learn to trace them even if they occur in library code you are not familiar with.
