1. Exploiting objectives
• Word shuffle – put objective on board but with words in
wrong order
• Word delete – put objective on board but with some words
missing
• Word excess – put objective on board with additional
unnecessary words included and ask pupils to delete those
they consider to be superfluous
• Word focus – underline most important word in the objective
and get pupils to use in a sentence of their own devising
• Red herrings – three objectives for lesson but only one of
them is the real deal
• Power of pen – pupil chosen to underline /circle /delete
/replace /explain highlighted word or phrase featured in the
objective
