2. Adobe Photoshop CS6
• Photoshop was the main software that I used throughout the
construction of my magazine pages. I used it to design and
create the layout of the pages, edit my chosen pictures and
create text to go into my magazine. Before starting my media
studies course, I had no knowledge of Photoshop and had no
experience of using it, this meant that I had to learn and pick up
techniques from various sources, such as instructions from my
teacher and through watching tutorials on websites, such as
YouTube. After a while, I was able to understand more how the
software worked and how to construct my final magazine
pages, so that they looked like a professional standard.
• Ways in which I was able to give my magazine a professional
look was through using simple things on Photoshop, such as
placing and ordering selected parts. This was evident as the
image of my model is in front of my masthead. This is something
that I didn’t know how to do prior to my media course, but
after learning it, I was able to put it into use and work it into my
coursework.
3. Other technologies
• Photoshop was the main technology that I used, but I also used
other platforms, such as websites like YouTube. I have used
YouTube in a number of ways, I have watched video tutorials
on it that instructed and informed on how to make the most of
software, such as Photoshop. I also used it as a source of
different ways to present my work, such as my group
discussion about a range of magazines. Another website that I
frequently used throughout my coursework was Slideshare.
Slideshare was a website that we found that enabled us to
upload a PowerPoint Presentation that we had created onto the
internet for people to have easy access to. A final tool that I
used to create my coursework was a website called Voki, this
was a site that let you type in text to a text box and then the
site created it into a version in which a computer spoke it back
to you, I felt that this was useful because it meant that not
everything on my blog was in a written form.
