1. I live with my mother and we do not have much money due to illness. I have
already been able to save up 2000, but still need another 4000... So that I can
take my mother with me. I would love to spend the remaining time with her
there. It is my greatest wish. That's why I have listed here nine reasons why it is

Here are 8 reasons why you should take a trip to Japan:
1. people & culture & traditions
Japan is special, different and sometimes quite bizarre and crazy. What already
fascinates us are the people, the culture and the traditions, which still have a
high value in the society. We can expect to see huge temples, beautiful
gardens, traditionally dressed geishas, lots of customs, the Japanese martial
arts, tea ceremonies and a thoroughly colorful and multifaceted way of life of the
Japanese.
We love to immerse ourselves in completely different worlds. Japan is just such
a world, a country between tradition and modernity. We are endlessly excited
about an exciting contrasting program and can hardly wait to see all that we
have so far only known from movies, magazines, books, blogs and news.
2. the mountains & highlands
Japan has an incredible nature. What we've seen so far in videos and photos
has left us quite amazed. The country is about the size of Germany, but almost
three quarters of the country is hilly mountainous country. The famous Mount
Fuji is unbelievable 3.776 meters high and beside it there are many more
3000'er, 2000'er and 1000'er.
In our dreams we are already hiking through the Japanese Alps and enjoying
the beautiful scenic backdrops in the heart of Honshu. And of course we would
like to climb Mount Fuji and make trips to different national parks. Not to forget
the 40 active volcanoes of the total of about 240 volcanoes in this country.
3. 6852 islands and many beaches
But Japan has a lot more to offer, namely a lot of beaches and islands. In total,
Japan consists of 6852 islands, with only 425 islands inhabited. About 98% of
the population lives on the four main islands (Hokkaidō, Honshū, Kyūshū and
Shikoku). However, we are particularly fond of the Japanese prefecture of
Okinawa, which consists of over 150 islands.
Here, between Taiwan and the mainland of Japan, a breathtaking underwater
world, white sandy beaches and colorful coral reefs await you and us. In
addition, you can go hiking, kayaking, diving, snorkeling and even whale
watching tours in the national parks. A paradise for nature lovers! And as if that
wasn't cool enough, you can also surf very well in Japan. A popular spot for this

4. metropolises of superlatives
Japan is definitely a country of superlatives, modernity and the future. We are
so incredibly excited about Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Kobe
and the many other cities and places. We are of course absolutely aware at this
point that we definitely can't see everything in just one trip to Japan. In Tokyo
alone there is so much to see, probably we would have to stay a whole year in
the city to have seen nearly everything.
We would love to admire the city from the top of the famous Tokyo Skytree (the
world's second tallest building), stroll through the various parks, visit curious
cafes and restaurants (e.g. a cat cafe, prison restaurant), explore the famous
shopping and nightlife district of Shibuya and just drift away. Do you have any

5. national parks & hiking
Japan has 30 national parks spread throughout the country. Whether in the
north of Hokkaido or on the southernmost islands of Okinawa, adventure lurks
just about everywhere! Where should we start? Well, we don't really know
ourselves yet. After some research, we definitely feel like exploring Fuji Hakone
Izu National Park around Mount Fuji. Yakushima National Park on the island of
the same name, Yakushima, has also piqued our interest because it seems so
mysterious and fairytale-like.
Akan National Park has a collection of volcanoes and three large lakes. Among
others, the beautiful lake Mashū is famous here. Every year, many thousands of
visitors also flock to Towada Hachimantai National Park, as there are not only
lakes and mountains here, but also the famous hot springs (onsen). We are
absolute nature lovers and prefer to be outdoors, so we are even more looking
forward to our hopefully soon upcoming trip to Japan.
6. marvel at temples and shrines
We have already seen many temples (e.g. in Thailand, Hong Kong,
Indonesia...), but we are especially looking forward to the temples in Japan,
because we find Japanese temple architecture simply incredibly fascinating.
The roofs, which are also an essential element of temples, are often striking. So
are the columns and capitals, the pagodas and gates.
Here in the land of a thousand gods, it is also common for different faiths to
coexist peacefully. In fact, a Japanese proverb says that "one is born Shinto and
dies Buddhist". We also find it very interesting that you can even spend the night
in traditional Koyasan temples. You learn more about the life in the monastery
and the life of the monks. That sounds like an adventure, doesn't it?
7. discover japanese cuisine
During our trip around the world a few years ago, we got to know and love the
many different cuisines of each country. Many people rave about Japanese
cuisine, as it is supposed to be the healthiest and lightest cuisine of all. In

3. general, cooking in Japan is quite low in fat, and the Japanese also use fewer
spices, preferring to rely on their own taste.
"You absolutely have to try ramen, you'll love it!" A sentence which we have
heard so many times. This is a Japanese noodle soup, which should be
available in countless variations. We are looking forward to rice balls,
dumplings, sushi, curry, tempura and all the different rice dishes with meat,
chicken, vegetables and other ingredients. Our motto will be "Everything that is
put on the table will be tasted".
8. modernity, infrastructure and curiosity.
No matter who told us about Japan, everyone raved about the toilets. Yes, you heard
right! The high-tech toilets await you with countless buttons and functions, such as a
heated seat, music, a built-in air dryer or a special self-cleaning technology. There
are also special toilet shoes, which you have to put on in advance. In the Japanese
embassy we had our first experience with a Japanese toilet. Another curiosity are
vending machines. Did you know that there are about 5.5 million vending machines in
Japan for food, drink and all kinds of curiosities? We definitely won't miss this on our
first trip to Japan.
We are really looking forward to the bullet train "Shinkansen". The train network is
very extensive and we will reach our destination in no time. The special thing is the
speed: With up to 320 km/h you travel from one place to the next. The trains are fast
but also super punctual. Here in Japan, I guess they apologize if the train arrived a
few seconds too early. Isn't that crazy? We are curious about modern Japan,
futuristic robots, high-tech and lots of bizarre things.
