3. INTRODUCTION
• Greetings all! The members of this group are presenting
the research done on ‘Social Groups’ and ‘Its Impact On
Us’. This research is to gain better knowledge from the
findings and to educate our colleagues by providing an in-
depth definition of the meaning of terms. This information
will arouse your curiosity.
4. PRIMARY GROUP
Primary Group refers to
those personal relations
that are direct, face to
face and relatively
permanent.
6. SECONDARY GROUP
Secondary Group is a relatively
larger group composed of
impersonal and goal-oriented
relationships, which are often
temporary.
These groups are often based on
achieving a common purpose outside
of the relationship itself and
involves much less emotional
investments.
8. FORMAL GROUP
Formal organisations denote a
social system defined clearly by
stated rules, norms and goals.
Several sets and subsystems that
work to achieve these goals, which
range from short-to long- term.
Military Group
9. Informal Group
These groups are formed naturally,
based on friendships or shared
interests.
More often than not they are geared
toward social interaction.
Ex. Circle of friends, clubs, local
chapter of fraternities and sororities.
Friends
10. TWO BENEFITS OF BEING AN
ACTIVE MEMBER OF A FORMAL
GROUP
• Accountability
No matter what your age, we are more likely to
keep ourselves well if we have people holding
us accountable. Older adults are less likely to
develop habits of declining self-care if they are
around others they care about. Socializing
creates reasons to stay well and helps foster a
positive state of mind. This will work because
people tend to take pattern from another and
once a certain standard is dormant the other
will want to take a stand in becoming like
others in the group.
11. • Enhanced Mental Health.
Isolation is one of the leading causes of depression in older
adults. Loneliness can easily turn to feelings of worthlessness
and despair.
Feeling loved and needed as their lives are affirmed by the
activities they do and by those with whom the interact.
Being around other people, especially if you are doing
something fun and rewarding, helps us keep a healthy mental
state with a positive out look on life.
As proven many times with persons who may have lost their
loved ones.
12. AS THE LEADER OF A YOUTH
GROUP, SUGGEST TWO
ACTIONS YOU MAY TAKE TO
ENCOURAGE MEMBERS TO
PARTICIPATE IN GROUP
ACTIVITIES.
13. TWO BENEFITS INCLUDE
• We have to look within. Think about what can
endear you by your followers . While doing that,
the following may also add value.
1. Lead by example: take the lead in anything you
plan to undertake. Get involved right from the
planning phase to execution of the data. Your
leadership style will make things fall into shape
for you if you lead by example.
Empower others, be an effective youth leader by
giving others the opportunity to participate, lead
and build their skills. In such give group work/
tasks to complete.
14. • Inspire your followers with reinforcement:
Positive reinforcement could come in simple
forms like gift items, breakfast, lunch or
dinner with the team or shopping vouchers
(depending on the budget)
• Giving insensitive is one meaningful way
of getting full participation in group
members.
15. CONCLUSION
In conclusion this presentation has explained
the social groups and the benefits of being
apart of these. Reflecting on what was
presented are all available for our needs and
wants, I thank all the members of this group
for participating and making this
presentation a success. Thank you for
listening!
