Mohandas Gandhi was born in 1869 in India and was married at age 13 or 14. He studied law in London and then moved to South Africa in 1893, where he spent 20 years fighting for equal rights for Indians. When Gandhi returned to India in 1914, he became a leader in the Indian independence movement and advocated for non-violent protest. On January 30, 1948, Gandhi was assassinated by gunshots in India by a man who was angry at him for being late to a prayer meeting. Gandhi is considered a hero for his role in helping India gain independence and influencing civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr.

and didn’t know much. He

3. Gandhi The Leader
When Gandhi returned to India in 1914 he was
supported by the Home Rule movement, and
became a leader of the Indian National Congress.
He made a policy of non- violent way to achieve
independence. His goal was to help peasant
farmers and laborers protest for their rights.
Also Gandhi helped fight for India’s freedom.
4. Death
Gandhi’s death was a tragedy for
everyone, even though he was
poor he had a big funeral. Here is
how it happened. Gandhi went
to the church and the man their
was mad at him for being
late, so he shot Gandhi with a
gun 3 times, Gandhi prayed but
unfortunetly 2 hours later in his

Gandhi became so famous that some
people made a movie about him and
it won so many "Oscar Awards”.
6. Why Gandhi is a Hero
Gandhi is a hero because he helped India fight
for freedom and also if Martin Luther King Jr.
didn’t study Gandhi he wouldn’t have helped
black people get equal rights in America.
