Editorial Experience (1985-present)
Freelance editorial clients: writers (fiction and nonfiction), independent film producers,
screenwriters, and attorneys on projects ranging from submissions to publishers and grant
foundations, television and film scripts, business plans, and state and federal legal filings,
court motions and contracts.
Editorial projects related to education: assisted Director of Graduate Programs and
Professor of Education at the University of Tampa with the Masters in Teaching Graduate
Program and Full Tenure and Promotion Application materials; assisted American Cancer
Society National Special Events Committee Chairman and National Chairman for
Celebrities Against Cancer in all areas of elected office, including research and
speechwriting, organizing local and national projects and revising copy for event
materials; and contributed to peace911.org campaign on the heels of the September 11,
2001 to calm war hysteria, parting ways when the organization split off into MoveOn.org
and a mysterious French/Turkish website.
Grantwriting Experience (2001-present)
Research and write grant proposals and letters of inquiry to public and private
corporations, foundations, and government agencies on behalf of nonprofit projects
varying in scope. Specialized development-writing projects and activities have included
letters to individual major gift prospects, capital campaign materials, and text for
newsletters, websites and annual reports, in addition to working with filmmakers (NYC
and Los Angeles) to procure funding for nonprofit organization teaching tolerance and
skills for peace to teenagers from war-torn countries.
Writing grants has also involved working on education grant programs, from proposal
stage, drafting of goals and objectives and formulating a comprehensive educational plan,
to procurement of federal funds, partnerships with private corporations, and allocation of
budget. Projects have included: obtaining funds for and assisting Tampa Bay Buccaneer
football player with forming NFL Charities foundation to provide middle school children

in need with diverse educational opportunities, including scholarships, mentoring, and
travel experiences; supplementing university graduate programs to improve education in
Florida schools, primarily mathematics and science instruction, by acquiring and training
qualified teachers to transform middle schools; and related education grantwriting such as
The Capstone Program, Americorp Tampa Reads, and The Interlink Project, assisting
literature professor and principal investigator of six-year project to acquire resources to
increase literacy by connecting elementary schools and partner universities using
technology.
Entrepreneurial Experience
Owner/Founder, Downsize California (2013-present): A legacy business on a mission to
assist individuals, families and business owners clean up all of the worrying details of the
extraneous “stuff” in their lives, professionally and/or personally. Consultations include
organizing and inventorying all items clients want to preserve or sell and taking care of
items no longer needed (finding buyers, choosing charities for donation, and otherwise
relocating and recycling).
Owner/Founder, Goddess Management (California, Florida, and Tennessee, 1990-2011),
formed to assist a variety of musicians in all areas of their careers, including band
management, publicity and promotion, shopping demo records and video reels, booking
live performances, working with clubs and promoters, arranging transportation and
lodging, tracking radio play, resolving legal issues, drafting contracts, organizing press
kits, and setting up clients with managers, attorneys, producers, record labels and agents.
Rock and roll, rhythm and blues, funk, country, pop, latin, metal, punk, and contemporary
jazz.
Legal Experience (1991-2012)
Work as a paralegal and/or legal assistant for private individuals and at a variety of law
firms focusing on:
§ Corporate civil litigation related to contracts, patent infringement, trademark, and
trust and estates for business executives and artists or their estates (Beverly Hills,
CA);
§ Entertainment litigation and pro bono law related to intellectual property, defamation,
media law, rights of privacy and publicity, and property law for film and television
actors, musicians, and arts foundations (Century City, CA);
§ Civil litigation defense covering a series of groundbreaking clergy sex abuses lawsuits
in California that became the legal model for Europe’s current cases. Encompassing
child abuse in Catholic Diocese organizations from 1938 until 2007, we worked to
resolve allocations and payment responsibilities attached to what culminated in a nine-
figure global settlement (Downtown L.A., CA);
§ Entertainment and complex business litigation for contractual disputes in music, film
and television, representing songwriters, composers, music supervisors, publishing

companies, music executives, producers, actors, attorneys, artist-driven record labels
against business managers, major record labels, film studios, television networks and
production companies (Brentwood, CA);
§ Corporate law, public municipal bond law, banking law, and commercial and
residential real estate law and corporate governance, which involved the formation of
limited liability companies, partnerships, and corporations, and organization of bond
closings for clients ranging from municipal housing finance agencies, banks, school
boards, credit underwriters, city and county governments, and real estate developers
and investors (Tampa, FL); and
§ As a law clerk while at The University of Tennessee, assisted corporate attorneys in a
mid-sized firm, researched and analyzed cases, edited motions and complaints, and
cite-checked and proofread contracts (Knoxville, TN).
Other Work Experience Has Included:
Executive Assistant and Talent Manager, Shelter Entertainment, formerly Grossbart,
Barnett & Iezman (Los Angeles, CA, 1995-1998): Assisted management and production
company with all aspects of film, television and theatrical actors’ professional and
personal lives, and acted as a liaison between talent and agents, producers, attorneys,
publicists, business managers, casting directors, writers, directors, studios, networks,
production companies, and crews. Worked to acquire jobs and manage responsibilities for
talent and generally run interference to ensure successful completion of projects.
Intern, International Creative Management (Beverly Hills, CA, 1994-1995): Assisted
theatrical and music agent and attorney representing actors, musicians, and music
supervisors with submissions to film studios, casting agencies, directors, producers, record
labels and concert promoters, and compiled project tracking, research and demos.
