1. JENNIFER HORNEMAN
EXPERIENCE
Fundraising Chair, Board of Directors 2015-Present
Sleepy Hollow Preschool
Serve on a nine-member board of a non-profit cooperative preschool. In my
role, I help to steer the school’s financial development. This requires managing
over 15 annual fundraising events which support staff training, scholarships,
classroom supplies, and student screenings. Meeting our annual goals requires tight
collaboration with parents, teachers, and local businesses to recruit volunteers and
build support for our mission. Our signature event, the Annual Silent Auction
and Gala, was one of our most successful ever due to minimizing our costs and
expanding support among our donors.
President 2014-2015
Vice President of Membership 2013-2014 & 2015-2016
MOMS Club of Southwest Arlington
Served as president of an eight-member board with over 60 women members.
One of my core responsibilities was directing the weekly event schedule and several
annual parties. To increase member involvement, I helped established a system of
committees eliminating the need for ad-hoc groups and encouraged a feeling of
shared ownership among members. By streamlining paperwork and procedure, we
were able to serve new and prospective members more efficiently. I also directed a
better communication system with members helping us to double our number of
community service projects and charitable donations.
Special Education Assistant Teacher 2010-2012
Long Branch Elementary School
Learned a variety of behavioral approaches to preserve classroom control and
alternative communication techniques to help keep students on task, and maintain
the day to day schedule; using pictures, sign language, and focused explanations.
I assisted in daily data collection to measure the ongoing progress of each student
which exhibited areas of success and areas needing work. Supplemental training
to learn current methods for working with children on the Autism Spectrum was
crucial for my success in this role. These students were an inspiration and allowed
me to gain perspective of what they faced every day. My daily goal was to care
about them and help build a positive foundation for their futures.
